Today I had to rescusitate dd She choked on some gripe water, it must have gone down the wrong way and she went floppy and stopped breathing (though she may have been holding her breath). It was the most terrifying 2 minutes (actually I don't know how long it was but it sure as hell felt a lot longer than it was) I've ever endured. Thankfully she is ok and asleep on me right now, but I hope none of you ever have to use it.

Oh blimey - well done for doing all the right things; I'm sure I would have run around screaming. Glad she's OK now.

Thanks I think I'm still in shock tbh. I told two of the mums at the school (who I get on well with) and they remarked how calm I sounded (and looked at me as if I'm mad)but it's just the way I deal with crisis iyswim. Inwardly I am very shaken.

Dogagain glad ds is ok now though. Very scary isn't it. Ds never choked on anything even though he was always putting stuff in his mouth. Poor dd was only having gripe water.

Hi always Yes, I think it's a strength sometimes (probably good in my job) but equally it can be a weakness.

DogAgain - I didn't know that the first whack should be very hard. I actually had to give dd some breaths as the whacks weren't working. Maybe I didn't do it hard enough. I keep looking at her feeling so lucky she is alive and feeling like I should never complain again when she cries/doesn't sleep.........but I know that won't last long

Don't worry about not whacking hard enough. YOu did a good job and she's ok - well done!
