Magnesium sulphate in pregnancy

There is a possibility that my baby could be brought early, I am currently 30 weeks and having loads of problems so there is potential for prem delivery. My last baby was born at 34 weeks and I needed steroid injections which weren’t great but I’d happily have them again. However im unsure if I’d need the magnesium sulphate drip to help little ones brain before delivery.

has anyone had this before? If so what was your experience/side effects?

Hi OP, I had it when I went into labour at 30 weeks. I wont lie, it was not the most pleasant experience - my whole body felt really really hot when they turned up the gage thing, then they turned it down then up again a few times. The whole thing probably lasted a couple of minutes, so not very long at all in reality. I didnt have any side effects afterwards!

Was feeling hot the only side effect you experienced? From what I’ve been reading it seems what most people have.

did you end up having your baby at 30 weeks or did you manage to get further?xx

I had it at 29 weeks. Like the poster above I felt crazy hot and uncomfortable. I was also quite nauseous. All effects lasted only for a few mins and I was totally fine afterwards.

I ended up having my LO at 32 weeks (had steroids but I didn’t need another magnesium drip).

@flameboboyes the feeling hot during the administering of it was the only side effect I had. I did lie there for a few mins afterwards staring at the ceiling wondering WTF was that 🤣 yes i had her by emergency c-section a few hours after having the magnesium sulphate xx
