Not sure if anyone can help? But my sister and my baby niece are currently in hospital she is 1 week old today. Throughout the whole pregnancy my sister was advised baby had fluid on the brain, 24ml which we was made aware is a lot and cause possible delays.
At one point they were talking about her being handicapped and advising termination, lots of back and forth, she had lots of genetic tests and an MRI that all come back clear.

She had a scan at 2 days old on the brain and the fluid was still there but reduced to 19ml and then is meant to have an appointment on Tuesday with a neurosurgeon although since birth baby girl has been having blood in her nappy on every single nappy change so when my sister went for their 5 days old check up they admitted her to hospital, she’s having blood tests done and has been a vitamin k drip for their last 24 hours although still blood in every nappy change. They have now just mentioned another scan Incase of a bleed on the brain but there is just no urgency at all, this could take days to complete due to bank holiday.

We all just feel so helpless 😞

Baby girls can bleed from the vagina due to mum’s hormones.

Did not want to read and run, but I did want to say I’m really sorry to hear this. How incredibly frightening for you all! I do know baby girls can have “mini periods” straight after being born but it doesn’t sound like this is what is happening here.

hoping you all get some answers asap and your niece is ok x

Thanks both, we are aware of the mini period but it’s every single nappy since birth and she’s 8 days old tomorrow. Apparently they are meant to last between 2-4 days, I’ve never heard of this before. It’s just so scary
