2nd pregnancy after premature birth question

Hi all, my first baby was born at 31+2 in 2022 (he's 2 actual next month). I don't know why he came early, I didn't have pre-eclampsia, no GD, no placenta abruption etc etc but my midwives/nurses commented that because I've had a previous Lletz procedure it could have resulted in a shorter (incompetant) cervix abd that my second pregnancy would be consultancy lead and I may be offered cervical scans, stitches etc etc.

I've just found our that I'm pregnant with my second, af is due Monday so if I'm still having positive test results then I plan on self referring to the midwives through my local GP. My question is, should I ring up and explain that my son was premature instead of using the online form in case they do want to see me sooner? Would I need an earlier scan of my cervix length or hormones etc?

What was the process like for those that have been there?

Hi lovely, congratulations on your pregnancy. I don't have personal experience with this but I do know that generally, a cervical length check will be done in your second trimester around 19-24 weeks. As for if there's anything you can do now, you could give your local early pregnancy unit a call and explain your history to them and see if they think you could benefit from taking progesterone. Best of luck :) xx
