Does this sound normal for a slightly prem 12 week old?

My little girl is 12 weeks old, but was born at 35+6 so I would expect her to be along the lines of an 8 week old. She still struggles to hold up her head, and can only do it for 3 or 4 seconds at a time when on her tummy. She is smiling but it's difficult to get two or three from her each day. She only really has one cry, and I read that by now I should be able to tell if she is crying because she's hungry, wants a nappy change etc. She isn't very interested in toys at all and doesn't really look when I try to show her them. She does watch me however and will follow me around a room with her eyes. Am I expecting too much of her or should I be concerned?

Sounds perfectly normal 8week old behaviour to me. I could never tell the difference between cries with any of mine. Head control from tummy sounds great. She’s still too young for toys, but it’s good that she likes looking at faces.

Phew thank you! She is my first baby and I have no experience at all Blush
I saw a YouTube video of a 2 month old's typical day which got me worried. The baby seemed very advanced, holding head up fully for quite some time for example. Must remember that all babies are different I guess :)

I remember seeing a tv program about toddlers and language, and being worried about my own. Then I got chatting to some more experienced mums at my church who pointed out that the sort of people who apply to be on a tv program tend to have babies who are above average with those skills. The ones like mine who just grunt and line up cars at 18mo don’t tend to have videos made of them, but mine have turned out very bright all the same.
