34 week twins

Hi all

My twin girls are due to be delivered at 34 weeks, and at last scan (30 weeks) were at estimated weights of 2lb13 and 2lb14. They're not going to be big babies, I'm hoping for almost 4lb each but perhaps I'm being overly optimistic?

I'm really just looking for people with similar experiences to share their stories. I just don't know what to expect and quite frankly am terrified for them. X

Hopping in late to add my story as my 33+5 dd didn't follow the rulebook... I knew of a few 33/34 weekers who'd had short hospital stays so found it quite hard when it became clear she wouldn't race home. She was a good weight (4lb 12) but despite having the steroid injections she struggled with breathing and was ventilated initially. She was put on cpap when she pulled the breathing tube out. She spent a week in an incubator in hdu, another week in the nursery with various wires attached, and then another two weeks attempting to get her feeding. They were reluctant to give her a bottle as they said it would interfere with bf but after nearly 2 weeks being kept in solely because of her feeding difficulty we didn't care what she was fed by that point. We eventually took her home at 4 weeks - which I know is still well before due date but I wanted to add our story to give a view of a slightly longer haul late preterm journey. She's now a very boisterous three year old, no long term health issues identified to date, and managed to move from expressing to breastfeeding when she was about 10 weeks old.

Good luck, I hope you have a smooth end to the pregnancy and enjoy every minute with those beautiful newborns.

You'll be surprised at how big a 3lb9oz baby actually is. That was ds's weight,he was skinny but much bigger than I imagined.
