10 week old struggling to poo

I've been having a lot of trouble with my 10 week old baby boy getting him to poo.
He was 6 weeks premature and had to be fed formula as he was in scbu for the first week.
He can go days and days without pooing and he is in so much pain, you can see this from his straining and scream.
H.V has referred me to paediatrician, but it's weeks away before we see them. He is also on lactose which is not helping. Has anyone had this with any of there children or has any ideas on how I could help him.
I also give him luke warm water in-between feeds.

In the short term, you could try baby massage - it helped my DS when he was little and new.

No experience of a premie but dd2 has trouble pooing. it was part of the milk protein intolerence. Constant straining and grunted with bloating.

What is the poo like when he does eventually poo? Is it soft and semi liquid or is it quite hard and dry (more like adult poo or even harder than that)

His poo is very hard and like rabbit, dropping. We have an appointment for him next week so hopefully we will get things sorted Hmm

Oh poor thing. Definitely constipation then rather than just weak muscles (both my preemies had weak core muscles and trouble pooing but the poo was soft). Maybe a comfort formula would help? A little very diluted prune juice in water can help too but would be good to get checked for any medical reasons first.
