Hi All,

My son was born at 33 + 2 due to PPROM - a total surprise why he was early and no explanation has ever been found out.

What extra care did you get in subsequent pregnancies? Especially in the Coventry area?

Thank you!!! X

Erm basically none!

DD1 born at 34+0 (PPROM total surprise like you) I had a review of my notes with a consultant who concluded that it was probably a one off and wouldn't happen again.

When pregnant with DD2 they had a good look at my cervix length at the 20wk scan (it was a good length) but apart from that there was nothing extra done. London rather than Coventry though.

DD2 was born at 36+6 (PPROM again)

PS I think I started a very similar thread when I was pregnant with DD2 - if you look under my username you might find it

I've had loads of extra care after having a 29 weeker last time. Consultant spots every 4-8 weeks, scans every month, extra midwives appts too, I'm currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second. It's been very reassuring this time round. We're not in Coventry area though.

I got nothing extra despite asking regularly.Sad

First was 32 weeks, am now sitting in NICU with my second born, who was born 34 weeks. I knew he'd be early but they kept saying it would be fine, it was a healthy pregnancy and they were confident it would go full term.

If I ever pregnant again I will fight much harder for extra support and things like pessaries. I just feel so sad right now.

Twins at 27+6 - fobbed off a little bit to start with for 2nd pregnancy (singleton) because they'd put my prem labour down to it "just being twins". Pushed for consultant led care (and got it) and pushed for swabs because I was convinced my early labour had been started by a UTI (they gave me swabs to do at home (monthly) which I dropped into the GP surgery for analysis). I also pushed for more scans than usual which they allowed.

Namechange did your second pregnancy go full term or was that early as well?

namechangedtoday15 · 24/08/2016 13:06

Yes Fitzbilly - well a day early (which my husband said was just because she knew it was the Champions League Final on TV and she was interrupting Wink). Good luck - hope you have a smooth ride through NICU and you're home soon Flowers

That's good namechange, so all the extra monitoring helped!

Fingers crossed they said he might be able to go home next week!
