Low placenta and chance of preterm labour

So with DS1 I had a painless bleed at 28 weeks, then a placental abruption at 33 weeks ending with DS1 arriving, even though placenta was not low. DS2 had no bleeding and arrived full term. Now DS3 is 29 weeks along and I have a low placenta ("touching os"). At 27 weeks I had two nights in hospital after a painless bleed and have been spotting brown blood since, no new blood though and no pains. I also bled at 20 weeks. Thoughts on the chances of me bleeding again and not making it to full term?? Guess I have DS1 in the back of my mind... Have extra consultant appointments booked and another scan at 36 weeks.

Thanks for your response Annbag. Forgot I had posted this... Had another one-off bleed last week and was in hosp for two nights. They did give me steroids justvin case. Baby growing fine. Just got home Tues but had a more substantial bleed last night and now in labour ward.... 32+3. Painless bleeding but it just keeps coming... Really hope it is going to settle. Chances of it settling?? Looks like I could be here longer term anyway. Hope he stays in there bit longer...

So true, just seems so unpredictable. I had another biggish bleed after my last post, about a cup, but last 24 hours I have just been spotting. Really glad I was in hospital when that happened, those big clots are scary. Tbh feeling rather paranoid about bleeding again now. They just seem to be getting bigger each time. Not feeling confident it is not going to happen again!!

Crazy!! Yeah sometimes ignorance is bliss... Currently just a little reddish brown spotting. They would like more brown or nothing for at least 24 hours. I do live nearby and mom coming to help with boys so dh can go back to work. Just taking things day at a time... Thanks for your thoughts x

I had 9 bleeds from 30 weeks, after the 3rd they admitted me and said I couldn't go home until baby arrived or it moved. The hope was to get me to at least 34 weeks. At 33+5 I had a big bleed which wasnt massive but as they had been getting bigger each time it was decided it would be safer for us both if he was delivered and I had a csection an hr after that bleed started. My placenta was only touching the os but caused so many issues yet one of my friends had complete previa and didn't have any bleeds at all. It's such a strange, unpredictable thing. I hope you and your lo are doing well.

Thanks for sharing your story, sleepyme. 33+4 today. Have been home for a couple days now, been told to take it easy. Brown spotting, and each morning I get a bit of red, but seems to be mostly brown on the pad so trying not to let it bother me, feel like I am kind of leaking.... Have also had some very sore lower bump and back pains. Perhaps I am getting paranoid now... Will share with midwife this week anyway. Have bag packed just in case! Will keep u posted....

Just to update you, had an even bigger bleed last night. Was scary and really panicked. Baby ok though and has settled now but similar to sleepyme they have decided safer to deliver anyway. Was meant to happen today but too many emergency sections ahead of me so first thing tomorrow morning... Yikes!! 34+2 tomorrow.

Our little boy was born safely yesterday by c-section and is doing well in the neonatal, only on a little oxygen! Kinda relieved not to be pregnant anymore and stress about those bleeds.... Thanks for your thoughts x
