Would like some info please. Im in slow latent labour and in hosp on a lot of bed rest. Ive had both steriods and the bloody labour pains are only just bearable with all the meds im.on.
Im 33weeks tomorrow
Im not dilating I know I dont dilate quick. Took 5 days with ds1. No premature babies in the past.
What arw your experiences? How long did they have t stay in hosp? I know each child is different just trying to prepare myself.

If you've had the steroids, then just depending on how quickly your baby learns to suck, it could be a short stay in hospital. I know someone whose 33 weeker was only in 3 days and no SCBU stay at all.

My ds was born at 35+0, and spent 5 days in SCBU as he was grunty when born, couldn't keep his temp up and got jaundiced. But once they let him bf (was tube fed) he fed fabulously so we got home.

I cant help but feel theres something bothering him as all of a sudden since coming into hosp. His heart rate on thr monitor has started falling a little bit too, not too much down to 110 I think but still worrying

My daughter was born at 33+1, prior to that I went into labour a few days before at which they gave me steriods and somehow my labour stopped at that time. My daughter went into SCBU for a week and then came home without any problems. That was seven years ago.

They havr tried to stop labour which only happens for a few hours. Then when pain comes back its even worse than before!

My dd2 was born at 33+1. I had preeclampsia so had steroid injections. What really helped was I was taken on a tour of neonatal the night before I had her. I sobbed all the way round but it was so helpful to have seen where she would go and get used to the noises and lights beforehand.

She had difficulty controlling her temperature, was on a machine to remind her to breathe and was tube fed with my expressed milk. They have machines in neonatal so you can pump whilst you are with your baby.

She did fantastically and learned to suck, that was hard, the expressing was difficult at first but worth it in the end as she cracked bf.

I had to go home after 4 days which was v upsetting and she came home about 2 weeks later. She weighed the same as when she was born so still v tiny.

She is 3 now and doing brilliantly. She was always a few months behind with sitting up, crawling etc but you'd never know she was premature now as she's so tall for her age.

DS, now a strapping ten year old was born at 33+6 after an emergency CS caused by my pre-eclampsia.
I had steroid injections about 12 hours before his birth.
He scored 9 on the Apgar Scale at birth and spent less than 12 hours on a ventilator before CPAP for 5 days. He was tube fed for 10 days.
He was in Scbu for 16 days.
It's a stressful time but you will all get through it.

Hope you are well. Both of mine were born at 33+1 weeks.
Ds was in special care for around 4 days. We were in hospital for two weeks altogether to establish feeding as he struggled to gain weight.
He is 5 now and fine.
Dd was in special care for a day and was home within 6 days. She was quite big at 5ib and has fed well. She is 9 months and appears to have caught up. I think she is unusual though and ds seems to be more standard! They are all different though just like term babies are.
I had steriod injections with both and this really helps. Past 32 weeks it is highly likely baby will be fine.

Thought id update

im not dilating just contracting regularly so they sent me home as they needed the bed despite during contractions feels like body is pushing him down without me doing it iyswim.
I see my own consultant on Wednesday. If I make it to Wednesday brill. If I lose more blood, waters, pains get worse then will go back in

Had to go back in. They did fibronectin test and came back as positive so they kept me in plus his trace was amber.
Since then ive lost watery blood like after when waters have gone but apparently they haven't even though ive been saying ive been leaking for weeks.

Finally ofd delivery ans onto ward now.

I had my ds at 31+1, I'd had the steroids injections, he stayed in Scbu for 31days, he was 35wks when he came home. He was released once he could regulate his own temp and drink every meal without needing the feeding tube.

They scanned him early hours and hes making sucking motions and breathing motions too which they find very reassuring.

If you have had the steriods also that will make a huge difference.

Yup I managed to sleep from 12ish til 7am which was brill I had pain relief before sleeping which helped too

I'm just out of hospital after being admitted on Friday at 30+5 for contractions.

They successfully managed to stop the contractions and as I didn't dilate they allowed me home.

I'm so nervous, every twitch, kick and stretching pain has me frantically eyeing up the hospital bag and car keys
