Prem babies and breast feeding

Is there any information I could read about the benefits of continuing with bf for a prem baby beyond six months? My LO is mix fed as I have always had a low supply of milk but I'm debating whether to continue with bf once we've moved onto solids. Would it help with building immunity if I continue to give breast milk up to the age of 1 or is this all developed within the first 6 months? Thanks

I BF our DS for three months until he rejected my boobs over the bottle. I was heart broken however i was reliably reassured by our Consultant that the long term benefits of BF are limited unless your LO has any allergies. Just an opinion but i hope it helps. Maybe speak to BLISS XXX

It would help with immunity both building up what wasnt finished because of the early arrival and also because everytime theres a bug in the household you will pass on abs against it straight to the lo. But theres lots more angles to yr decision. Do what works for you too.

I was told the opposite to Fraggle, b/f as long as you can, up to a year if possible. BLISS have a booklet about breastfeeding and it says the longer you breastfeed, the longer to baby benefits from the immunity. Agree that its what works for you .

my baby, I had her at 36wks and she had problems with keeping tempo, and jaundice, and she sleeps a lot more then normal. I am nursing and its crazy b/c my breat are telling me to eat but she is sound asleep and dont be really hungry plus the meds they give you after having the baby isn't doing me any good. but makin me sleepy. I think that is why she sleeping all the time too? i don't kno. I still have these pains I wanna exercise but learned not to do one leg exercises just things that involve both legs ( SPD sucks!!!)

My dts are almost 21w adj and have been ebf since they were well enough, and even though they are not currently ebf (hospital for ds w/ NGO tube and dd at home either bf or bottle because I'm having to split time) but we are in process of weaning dd because she is showing loads of signs and it's been discussed with ped and gp. I plan to bf (bm only) until they're 1 year old and then I plan to extended bf as long as possible.

I was told that there is always nutrients and antibodies in bm, as long as you keep producing milk, there will always be nutrients there. Antibodies are great for their immune system. I was encouraged by my gp/midwife and the kids gps to carry on bf as long as I wanted because there will always be benefits there.
