of hospital 2 days later!!! that cant be right??? Shock

She had a crash c-section cos she was losing alot of blood at 31 weeks pregnanncy and nearly lost her baby.

Her gorgeous baby gotta stay in hospital for 7 weeks and even my friend is gobsmacked that she is out within 2 days. Ive had an emergency section years ago and i remember on my 2nd day i was walking around with a stoopid morphine drip that didnt feel it was working! but i could hardly walk!!.

my friend said her scar is soo sore and is in pain...i remember that horrible pain myself and it took me 9 mths to starting to feel back to normal.

I was 'chucked' out 24 hours after my 3rd c-section as I was fine apparently Hmm Hope your friend is ok and baby is doing well.

I think it is absolutly ridiculous and dangerous.

I have had 3 sections, and stayed in between 4 and 7 days.

It should be 4 days minimum imo.

biglips · 25/10/2010 09:55

she said she feels generally ok. She already been on the train by herself when her baby was 4 days old.....

i dont know how she does it.

It's nuts but IME the NHS wants to send women home as quickly as possible after birth and does not see a cs as a serious operation.

I was kept in for 4 days each time but that is because I had continuing health problems that needed monitoring. None of my friends were in for more than 3 days.

As for the pain, have they given her something decent? With my second emcs the hospital only gave me paracetomol and ibuprofen. My headache was fine but god my tummy hurt!

In fact I find the whole thing shocking. There's a load of basic things doctors do after other operations, e.g the surgeon talking to you afterwards, proper pain relief being a priority, telling you how to care for your wound before you leave, which do not happen after a CS, even though it is a fairly big op.

Oh - a crash section makes no difference since it is only a different anaesthetic and a GA is, of itself, no reason to stay in the hospital for long. After mine I was in for 4 days but that's because I couldn't pee and then had rising BP.

i think its bonkers!! theyve might of been short on beds!

She must be well to be out.

When i went with my sister recently for a tour of our maternity wards, the midwife told us all to pack for only a day as we will be out within a day in all likelihood and that even those who have had ceasareans are out in 2 days now and are not sent home with any pain relief! Shock

biglips · 25/10/2010 18:25

shocking isnt it?
