Pregnant at 46 & unsure what to do?

Hey all. I’m 46 & found out I’m 5 maybe 9 weeks pregnant on Monday. I’ve taken the pill since I was 17, have only got pregnant 3 times on purpose. My boys are 22, 19 & 15 now. I split from their Dad who I was with for 25 years 4.5 years ago. I stopped taking the pill last May after being poorly & told I had to stop (that’s another story!) I thought I only had 1% chance of getting pregnant at my age so stupidly did not go back on the pill. I’ve been with my partner for 10 months, he is 51 & also has grown up children & grandchildren. I’ve only told my mum. My partner works away during the week & wanted to speak face to face. I have seen my GP & he suggested speaking to partner on Friday & discussing options. Half of me feels I’m too old to have a baby, I’ve just got my life back, met an amazing man & have lots to look forward to so why have a baby? The other half is thinking wow you’re pregnant at 46, that’s quite a special thing to happen & could be amazing for all of us. Anyone been in this situation & can offer any advice? Thank you ❤️

Hi hun I didn't have a similar story. I got pregnant once at 37 and had a termination which I deeply regret two years on . I never like to sway anyone on her but rather offer my honest experience . If there is any part of you that is wanting to keep this baby then you need to listen to that before you make any hasty decisions . The hormones and panic can make us react and not think straight . so really sit with this before you rush . I wish you the best hun x

Thank you for replying. I’m sorry you deeply regret what you did, I know if I do decide to not continue with the pregnancy, it will haunt me forever, but that could be the better choice for everybody as it’s just me who will have to deal with that. If I was 10 years younger I honestly wouldn’t have even doubted going through with the pregnancy. I’ve got an appointment next week, so have some time to think. Thank you again ❤️
