Sharing my experience of an early medical abortion to reassure others

Thought id share my abortion experience to help others!

This is my second abortion first was years ago i am not proud at all infact I was devastated i have 2 children 1 is severely autistic and other is only 9 months old... this was a complete accident he is now getting snipped anyway on to the experience I am still currently in it. Getting the pills was more stress than the abortion itself!!! I really struggled to get them everywhere made me wait weeks and I found out at 3 weeks...I finally am doing it at 6 weeks 1/2 days took me 3 weeks to get somewhere anyway I took first pill yesterday cried a lot about that but felt nothing no symptoms then took the 4 tablets vaginally 24 hours later I was fine till about 2 hours in I started to bleed no cramps just bleeding light bleeding then 3 hours I got very minor contraction feeling comes in waves it really isnt bad at all its like period pain but in waves I went toilet and passed 2 clots this for me is the scariest bit because i have done this before at 7 weeks it was much bigger but this time it was small and easy im now sat with same amount of cramping its minor I took 2 ibuprofen and am just resting it isnt the pain ive seen people go through but I have given birth twice with no pain relief 😅 anyway so far I think this will be it just minor bleeding and cramps and passing some clots I'm sure itll end soon and will update please dont be scared to do this it isnt always as bad as what people say you will be okay!! I dont think I need to take the other two tablets as I am satisfied with the clots that passed.

Hi, thanks for sharing! I know this was a while ago but how did you get on? I could’ve wrote this myself. Been trying to get the medication for 3 weeks and finally get them tomorrow. I’m so scared

Hey! Don't be scared honestly I think second time around i found it a little more painful than first tbh I had pretty bad cramping the first day in the end but it doesnt last long and you forget about the pain in time just make sure to buy codeine at pharmacy if you from UK they told me they dont offer it anymore have to buy it seperate I'd definitely have some on hand paracetamol and ibuprofen hot water bottle long baths showers and snacks! I have other kids so I got someone to watch my 2 for the 1 day it was only 1 day I was out i am now waiting for my first proper period to come back any day now but yes it all went successfully let me know if you have any further questions and let me know how you get on x

Thank you so much for that! I’m glad you didn’t suffer too badly. I’m dreading going through it during this heatwave but needs must! I have my appointment today at 12 and then I’ll be taking the other tablets Sunday afternoon around 2. I have a 16 month old and have commitments on Saturday and, Sunday morning. My partner will behome Sunday to take care of her but I’m so worried the worst of it won’t be over by bedtime. She’s not the best sleeper and doesn’t settle too well for her dad in the night, she likes me to resettle her 😬

Ah! Bit of a tricky one if taking at 2pm shame cant be taken any earlier it really varies from person to person what it will be like my first one was manageable where as my second I couldn't look after my kids as couldn't walk due to pain at one point. I was wondering if monday would be any better as you can take up to 48 hours to take second lot or take the second lot later in day after she falls asleep? Not too sure but i would definitely prepare your husband to take over full care as you need as much rest as possible if she settles quickly with you then wont be too bad I still got up and did things just not much at all! How far along are you? Just be prepared the worst part for me on first one was passing the pregnancy because i was 7 weeks it felt a large clot come out and that upset me most as scared me second time was more the pain side only small clots x

She usually just needed shushing back to sleep, it’s rare I have to get her out. My partner is going to keep her downstairs from 2 whilst I camp out upstairs and I’m going to pray the worst of it is over by her bed time! I’m around 5 weeks 6 days she thinks, only a yolk sac, no fetal pole seen on US on Wednesday. Thanks so much for replying to me, it really has helped xx

Hey thanks so much! I’m currently 4.5 hours in, I took my last dose of misoprostol 1.5 hours ago and I feel fine. I had no pain whatsoever until about 6pm when I started to feel my back cramping up(I suspect the painkillers I took before hand had worn off) and now the pain is back to basically nothing. I felt a gush of blood 35 mins after the first misoprostol and passed some pretty large clots/tissue within the first hour and I’ve not passed anything now for the last 3 hours, just period like bleeding. I’m hoping it all happened VERY fast and that’s it over with and I don’t have anything worse to come! Xx
