Medical abortion

I had a medical abortion just over 3 weeks ago.. I bled for about a week and a half and then it stopped and I was just wiping blood when I had been to the toilet for a couple of days. Then the bleeding completely stopped. I have however today had a small bit of bleeding in my underwear I’d say more like bloody discharge. I’m not sure if this is my period starting or if it’s still from the abortion. Has anyone else had anything similar happen to them?

Christ if only your parents had worn a condom!

Treesinsummer · 11/02/2026 00:50

@T1Dmama why?

T1Dmama · 11/02/2026 00:50

@Ukmum25 my friend recently had an abortion (tablets as very early stage).. she bled for about 8 weeks.. I would call someone medical for advice though.. but I’d guess that a ‘show’ is normal, but big clots would be more concerning ?!

Op clearly stated it’s a medical termination.. I’d assume it’s for mother’s health or the foetus has been tested and has something. Either way it’s not our business and OP isn’t asking for our opinions on abortion!

More supportive than yours though!

It can be common. If you have pain, fever, cramping past your normal period pain, or soaking through over 1 pad per hour please be seen medically straight away. Sending support.

If you’re in the U.K. @Ukmum25 please call 111 for advice tonight, and then follow up with a GP appointment tomorrow xx
Hope you’re ok x

Oh go away you absolute loser. If you don’t like abortions then don’t have one.

OP - please ignore this freak of nature. I hope you are okay, any main concerns please speak to BPAS or the organisation that prescribed you the medication ❤️

@mumsnet maybe this would get kinder replies in a different forum?

Oh, grow up. We WERE just a bunch of cells, all of us including you. You're right, it is just luck. Around 30% of pregnancies abort themselves.

How far back do you want to romanticise the 'potential adult'? That time a bloke gave himself a quick hand shandy in the bathroom? 200 million potential people straight down the loo every time! Heartbreaking. A woman had a period? Oh, no! That ovum might have made a human. More heartbreak!
