Hello just coming on here to share a positive medical abortion story so that people who are looking for positive experiences rather than seeing the negative. —Found out I was pregnant and went onto bpas website and submitted form for pills by post I then had a telephone consultation around three days later. They just asked about my weight height medical history reason for wanting to terminate etc and call lasted around 20 mins. Just letting people know when I took the pills I was early as I was only 5 weeks and 1 day.
-They sent the pills out that same day and would’ve came the next day (the Saturday) however Royal Mail messed up and sent them to wrong mail centre hours away so took another 3 days to come as had to be re routed.
-BPAS were very helpful in trying to sort this all out for me.
-When the pills eventually came I took the first single pill straight away (around 9pm) I knew I wanted to do it on the night as only my boyfriend knew about it and my mam would be having my child this night and the next night anyways so I’d be in my own space and could relax.
-I had zero symptoms from this pill and just went in with my day.
-They say to take the next set of 4 pills 24hrs after the first however I took them around 20/21hours after instead as I wouldn’t be able to stay awake that long and wanted to be awake to check the amount of bleeding during the evening/night.
4:40pm- I had took 4 ibuprofen and 2 cocdamol so that it would kick in by the time I inserted the pills
-5PM: I laid down and inserted the 4 pills vaginally and laid down for 40 mins. I had no pain from this and was very easy to do . From the minute I inserted the pills I had a hot water bottle wrapped around my belly and back so that I could do everything I can for minimal pain.
8:30PM- At this point 3 and 1/2 hours in I still had ZERO cramping or zero bleeding and I was getting ready to insert the last 2 tablets. However about 10 mins after (8:40 pm) I felt a gush of blood and went to the loo where I had passed my first big clot , about the size of a strawberry this didn’t hurt at all it just felt weird. Then there was just blood coming out as I was on loo as if I was peeing. I put a maxi pad on top of the disposable pants as I wanted to make sure I didn’t leak.
9:00pm - starting at this time and for around the next 1/2 hours I kept needing to go to the loo as I could feel I needed to pass more clots I then passed around 3 more total . All pretty much the same size of a strawberry again at this point I’d still not felt even a single twinge or a single cramp since I’d took the tablets so this really shocked me as I was ready for A LOT OF PAIN from the stories I have read and the stories I’ve heard from my friends.
-Aftwr the clots passed the bleeding slowed right down to basically a light period, I would only really bleed when I actually sat down on the loo not much came out of the pad.
anyways at this point I went to bed as I knew the pregnancy had definitely passed.
around 4am I woke up to slight cramping but still very light bleeding so I took another two ibuprofen just so I could make sure that I still had no pain at all during this whole process.
I then woke up at 8am and the blood flow is still the same . A very light period and no cramping I did have a slight bad back tho so I took another two ibuprofen to keep pain away.
it’s now 11am next day and I’m having a nice warm bath to relax . No pain and bleeding still very minimal
hope this gives people some hope as much as you hear bad stories this just proves that everyone handles pain differently . I do usually have very light periods anyways that last 3/4 days max and I never have cramp and when I have birth I also only has mild bleeding for around 4 days after then it fully stopped so maybe I just don’t bleed much anyways ?
all I would recommend is keep on top of medication and pain relief before during and after as this helped me so much that I felt ZERO PAIN at all. Please let me know if anyone has any questions as of now the only pain I have is back pain but that’s normal for me as I’ve had a bad back since giving birth 2 years ago anyways :)

@blcxoxoxo i think it’s really helpful you putting this here. We really need to all look out for each other. How are you now? How are you emotionally? X

I’m doing good to be honest glad it’s over and I’ll be even better when I see that it’s negative the bleeding is pretty much only when I wipe and get the few occasional cramps but other than that I’m good thanks x
