Worried about London NHS care

I am an Australian living in London and I know very little about the prenatal/birth/antenatal care situation here. My husband and I are planning to start trying soon, but I am very scared. The NHS is a bit of a wreck, and I dont know the best options! I live in Clapham (stereotype, I know), and I have no idea what to expect. What are the best hospitals? The best clinics? Can I have a single consultant help throughout the process? Should I go private?

Hi, not messaging from London, I'm over the water in N.I.

You can get some consultant led care if you are high risk, age, health etc..so a mix of midwives and consultant appts, but if you want all consultant led care, as opposed to midwives, you'd prob need to go private, that's the way it works in the NHS over here. Package here is about 4k. I opted to just go NHS, but because I was assessed as needing some consultant appts anyway. Good luck 👍🏻
