How can I find maternity care that I can trust?

I have just found out I am pregnant and the first thing advised to do is self refer to maternity services.

I have been looking up reports of as many local services as I can and all seem to be "inadequate" or "requires improvement" on cqc reports.

Does anyone know which services in or around Hertfordshire would be the best choice? Is it possible to switch services once you have self referred?

My closest hospital is lister hospital in stevenage part of the east herts trust, where I know a handful of people who have delivered and recieved sub-standard care. Which is what made me question which service to sign up to to start with.

Trawling through reports to find that multiple of the nearby hospitals are not up to standard is so overwhelming and fills me with doubt.

Is it a case of picking the best of a bad bunch?

Can you apply to two at the same time to see who replied quicker as I’ve been late to apply as near 13weeks and starting to panic
