Medical abortion. -How did you feel after taking the 2nd two tablets

Hi Guys
I'm currently going through a medical abortion (complete accident and just not in the position to have another baby at the moment). I took the first tablet yesterday at 1pm, then took the 4 tablets at 1pm today. I have very light spotting when I go to the loo, and just the occasional twinge. I was so scared to take the 4 tablets a few of hours ago due too the horror stories I have read, and not much has happened. It's looking like I'm going to have to take the additional 2 tablets at 5pm, but worried this is going to ramp things up. Does anyone have any positive stories of having to take the additional 2 tablets?!
Thanks all x

I had a medical abortion back in June. Took the first pill and then 24 hours later I inserted the first set of 2 pills. Absolutely nothing happened so 3 hours later I inserted the second lot of 2 pills and within an hour I started cramping. Back and forth to the toilet but didn’t bleed much initially. I’d say it was 90 minutes or so after inserting the second 2 pills that things started to happen. Contraction type pain and I stayed on the loo, I felt a gush, and that’s when I knew I had passed the pregnancy. The pain stopped immediately. From inserting the second two pills, to passing the pregnancy was about 2.5 hours. Bleeding was heavy after that and I was changing pads regularly for the next few days. I also read a lot of horror stories but mine really was a straightforward text book termination. I didn’t have retained tissue, it wasn’t god awful pain (it was painful though), and pregnancy symptoms had gone within 3 days. Period came back within 4 weeks.

Positive thoughts, take it easy X

Thanks @MyUmberSeal that's really good to hear. I inserted the two additional pills at 5pm, and have had bleeding whilst on the toilet but next to nothing in my pad and still just very mild period cramps every so often. I think I'm only about 5 or so weeks so that may be why, unless it progresses over the next 12hrs. Thanks for replying anyway :) x

Hi,

I’m going through same as you, about 24 hours behind you. Also about 5 weeks now.

I’m only getting light to moderate bleeding even after 25hrs of the two additional pills.

Are you able to share an update on how you are?

Many thanks!

Hi guys

I know this was a few weeks ago but I am going through it now. I have very bad health anxiety and have had my tablets since Monday & plan to take them this weekend. I am so scared, I am 7 weeks & petrified of complications. Any positive stories would help x

Hi @Mich1992sun

The anxiety was the worst part for me. I don’t know yet if mine was successful as have to wait to take the pregnancy test next weekend but I really was absolutely fine.

I was prepared for serious pain, cramping etc but none of that came. I had some cramping but nothing that was unbearable. I did take 800mg ibuprofen when I did the first 4 tablets vaginally. I wasn’t sure if I was bleeding enough so I inserted the 2 additional tablets vaginally after the 4 hours. Even after that, my bleeding was only every moderate to light and the pain was absolutely bearable too.

I spotted for about a week after and then have been “spotting” brown discharge on and off for the last week (week 2). Also work mentioning that after about a week my boobs stopped being sore and I don’t “feel” pregnant anymore. But as I say, still pending the final confirmation.

Try not to be frightened, I am sure you will be ok. You’re still very early days. Remember to stay kind to yourself. It’s a lot to deal with x

Hi everyone I’m looking for some advice or maybe someone who has been though the same thing.

I was around 5-6 weeks pregnant, and due to circumstances it really wasn’t the right time for another baby among many other things. So I called bpas and they was amazing with me from start to finish and sent me the pills out by post. So I took the first pill at 3pm Friday. Then I took the second lot of termination pills at 3pm Saturday nothing happened until 5pm. I started with some really light cramping for about an hour then heavy cramping started and I started to bleed nothing out of the ordinary sort of what you would expect so for about 7 hours I was back and forth to the loo with bleeding and some very tiny clots I could say the biggest one was about the size of a 2p I felt this one come out but that was the only one I really noticed and did notice even smaller ones sometime guess my question is does this sound about right only I’m worry maybe it all has passed. I don’t feel sick anymore I’ve got really light bleeding and really little cramps very now and then. Does this sound about right? I am going to give bpas a call tomorrow just seeing if maybe anyone’s story was similar to mine.

thank you

Hi,

Yes it sounds very similar to my experience and I was also 5-6 weeks. Although it actually sounds like I was lighter bleeding than you. I bled/spotted for the next 3-4 days so about 7 days from when did the Misoprostol.

For info, I took the pregnancy test 3 weeks which was negative. I was then about 4 days later than anticipated for my next period but that came too. When I spoke to BPAS they were confident the termination was successful. I haven’t done another pregnancy test since I’ve been on my period.

Hopefully this helps you!
