Depends where in Italy! For example in Milan it's excellent. In the past it wasn't great but these days it's good. Tons of good and bad comments here. I have several friends who have delivered in North Italy Milan area in the last 10 years, all good experiences. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5028370-moving-to-italy

My daughter was born in Puglia.
Can't fault the treatment, the attention from staff etc. Straightforward vaginal birth with epidural (needed to be booked beforehand, some hospitals don't offer them routinely) Around me were about 12 people. It's basically all hands on deck so to speak.
Pregnancy is very medicalised, lots of tests/checks/scans throughout.
Very little (none) antenatal or breastfeeding advice. I learned from books.
