Pregnant for the third year in a row - Congenital Defect, Rainbow baby and Abortion

Hi.

I had a baby in April 2022. He had a congenital defect and only survived 2 days after full term. I had surgery whilst pregnant to help him survive but it didn't work. Fast forward 5 months later - I got pregnant again with his little sister, a rainbow baby if you will.. she was born in June 2023 and is now a healthy 6 month old baby.

I had the contraceptive implant put in the 18th october 2023. The side effects were too much and I ended up taking it out on the 7th November 2023 (I realise I should've given it more of a chance but I have suffered anxiety since my baby passed away and it heightened this)

I have just found I am pregnant. I've taken 3 tests and they're all very dark lines as if I'm very far along. I have requested a call back from the abortion clinic but I don't know how this has happened. I've used protection before and after the implant.

I have to get an abortion as I feel my body couldn't take a pregnancy for the third year running. I don't think I could have another baby financially. And finally my mental health deteriorated after having my second, so I can only imagine it will worsen after a third pregnancy.

My partner and I are set on the abortion but it doesn't make it easier.

Does anyone have any experiences of abortion and how it works? I really hope I am under 10 weeks as I don't think I could go through surgical route (which I think is under 10 weeks)

Hi RedJade, I just wanted to say I can't imagine the pain and trauma you've been through. I cannot imagine experiencing the death of a baby the way you endured. I'm so glad you now have a daughter and that she's doing well. No amount of happiness can erase pain like the death of your first though. How are you doing, are you still certain abortion is your best choice? Are you getting any help for your mental health, regardless of what you choose for your current pregnancy? Wishing you all the best, be safe and strong.
