Scared about taking the abortion pill.

Hi, I'm new here and just wanted some advice/reassurance about taking the abortion pill at 5weeks and 2days. Found out I was pregnant on June 30th I'm 24 with partner 24. We immediately decided we did not want the baby due to many reasons. I had a phone call with my local clinic today and I'm going into my appointment on Wednesday and planning to take the first pill on Thursday and the main pills on Saturday. Please tell me about your experiences, I'm really worried but would appreciate non sugar coated versions. Thank you!

I had one at 5 weeks. It was fine. If you'd told me it was a period I'd have believed you. No pain at all, no clots, to the point that I was worried it hadn't worked but it did. Good luck, you'll be fine! Well done for making the right decision for you, weirdly the whole experience made me feel so privileged to live in a country where we have the choice to do it and actually really lucky and it made it seem a positive thing to be doing.

Thank you for your comment, I hope I have a similar experience to you! I agree it’s absolutely fantastic and such a privilege to be able to access this procedure so easily and in the comfort of your own home too!

Mine was at 6 weeks, took some paracetamol and didn't notice any pain. Nothing occurred after fist tablet - few after after 2nd I had heavy bleeding and clots and at one point felt like I needed the toilet and felt a gush, didn't look at any of it. Emotionally I felt upset when there was a gush because it felt like some sort of 'finality' but other than that emotionally I was okay also. Ultimately when you have weighed everything up and know the decision is the right one I think you can cope with it by thinking of it as a period and knowing you are doing the right thing in the big picture.

As I said I didn't experience any pain really not even like period pains

Wish you the best

Hello!
I experienced this last year and I read so many horror stories on here I was prepared for the worst. It was absolutely fine, after I inserted the 4 pessaries I didn’t need to use the other two as I had already began with some pain (strong period pain in my back) It was managed with cocodomal and a hot water bottle. I went to the toilet and it literally just plopped out, didn’t see anything, my nausea immediately stopped so we ate Chinese food and I had a normal period like bleeding for about 5 days.
❤️ Good luck x

I will add I was 8 weeks exactly.

Best of luck OP! Mine was around the same time as you and it was absolutely fine. Just like a really heavy period. I was working from home (Covid) and didn’t even need time off work. Just take things slowly - tea, hot water bottle, good TV etc.

Hi OP, I’ve only skimmed through the other posts so others may have said similar to me. I have been through this at a similar gestation, and my experience was okay (as okay as it can be). Minimal bleeding, the cramps were extremely intense and painful and I did take codeine. Pain kicked in about half an hour after the tablets and lasted for around an hour or two. The pain then completely died down and I’d had no bleeding so had to take more tablets orally. This caused more contracting and some bleeding. I was in work the next day with period-like cramps but minimal bleeding. I really hope all goes okay for you, it’s mentally exhausting but your body will be okay and you’ve made a very hard decision so well done for choosing what’s right for you. Xx

10 years ago I had a termination, I was 9 weeks. I took the pills, it was absolutely fine, just like a period. I stayed on the sofa and watched telly, pills on Friday and back at work on Monday

Hi all, I’ve just had the first 4 just now. Hope all goes well!

Please ask for this to be moved to the pregnancy choices board op. Really insensitive to put an abortion thread in pregnancy.

I mean I didn’t have any idea there even was a board specifically for this, so one would assume OP didn’t either.

Simply using the search bar would have done it.

Either way @chesschamp99 please report your thread and ask for it to be moved.

Pretty obvious from the thread title what it's about, just don't click on it. I don't see how it's insensitive.

@Mommasgotabrandnewbag get a grip? You're the one being insensitive here

My experience was horrendous. The first pill made me sick to the point of needing a drip and after i took the last pills I was in horrendous pain, and I felt my baby drop out right at the end. Scared me for life and I bitterly regret it.

Sadandscaredmum · 09/07/2023 10:05

How are you op?

I’m Ok thank you, yesterday was bit rough had quite strong crams and was sick maybe and hour or so after the last 2 pills. I slept most of the day though so it was manageable. I’m a bit worried though as I’ve had barely no bleeding in my pads, I passed some clots yesterday but that’s it. So feeling a bit unsure that it’s all worked ok :/
