Hi

I’m petrified, I’m scheduled in for a medical abortion next week and I’ll be 13 weeks. In Scotland there’s no option for a surgical unfortunately.

I have so many questions and would appreciate so much is someone could answer them.

I have to take the first pill in the clinic and the second set in hospital where I’ll be having my medical abortion.

What is the general process after the pills have been vaginally inserted?

How long should I expect to stay in hospital?

What will I see at 13 weeks?

Will this essentially mimic the pain of full term labour?

I'm also in Scotland and had a medical abortion last week at 13 weeks. The whole thing went really smoothly. I was in hospital at 9am and left at 6pm. The hospital staff were great and they will give you regular painkillers to control the pain. It was nothing like labour, just cramps and I found it bearable. I didn't see anything, they don't encourage you to look.

Hi - I've just found out myself at my 12 week scan my baby has severe abnormalities and have been advised that it's best to have a medical termination due to a low survival rate and other life limiting conditions.
I am booked in to have first tablet Monday and second Wednesday. I'm so scared of the pain and it mimicking my labour with my son. Could you please share your experience? I'm also in UK and general anesthesia is not an option at the hospital
Thanks.
