POSITIVE PREGNANCY TEST AFTER MEDICAL ABORTION

Hi everyone,
so I had a medical abortion on 8th September (when I took the 4 pills) and my pregnancy test is still positive I’ve done 6 now!! Keep waiting a few days then doing another it’s been nearly a month now… anyone else experience this??

ALSO.. No signs of infection I don’t think.

any advice would be helpful 🤍

Have you done the test that your provider gave you to do three weeks after the abortion? What was the result on that? If that one was positive you need to follow the instructions in your pack and contact your provider as you may have leftover tissue.

Normal pregnancy tests can show positive for several weeks afterwards as they’re so sensitive.

I wasn’t given a test… I’ve only done ones you can buy :(

I had a MMC last year and has a medical abortion, I did a test a couple of weeks later and was still positive. It's just the hormones lingering x

It’s been 5 weeks now.. is it normal to still show positive??

I would call them and let them know as you may have left over tissue that needs to be removed! X

Hey, the one you are provided with is normally super low sensitivity so if it's positive then you would definitely need to call them. However I see you weren't given one, I'd say even a normal test shouldn't be positive this far down the line. Is it a strong line or do you need to squint to see it? I had a medical abortion & my shop tests at 3 weeks were still positive but the one they sent me was negative. All tests were negative by 5 week though.

I've recently had a surgical termination & had bleeding for 4 weeks & a very positive test (same as control line) turned out I had retained products & just had the procedure repeated.

I'd give BPAS / MSI or whoever you used a call to get advice & see what to do. You may have retained products or if May be normal but they'll be able to confirm for you.

hi please I am having similar case
after taking the pills i had one day bleeding and after had a white discharge and heavy cramping
after one weak my home test result is showing faint line
did the pills work.

Hi @charles51 is it a home test rather than the one they send you with the pills? I'd say after a week it's normal for any test to still be positive (depending on how far along you were) so I wouldn't worry yet, test again next week and should be a noticeable difference, they say to test after 3 weeks so if it's still positive at that point then call whoever provided the pills & they can advise on what to do. Hope you're ok & recovering 😊

It takes about 3-4 weeks for it to be negative.
