Hi,
I found out I was pregnant fairly far along and am having a surgical termination. I didn't want to know exactly how many weeks but from working it out I believe I am 16 weeks.
Please don't judge on the choice, it is 100% the right decision for me. But I was hoping someone might have experience similar and have some advice please? I'm worried about the recovery considering I am quite far along. And also how long it will take my body to feel normal? I have no symptoms other than my breasts have doubled in size and I am bloated constantly.
The termination is through MSI at the Buckhurst Hill clinic.
Thank you so much to anyone that can help!

I had a surgical abortion at 16 weeks. This was when I was 18 so a long time ago now. I hadn't even realised I was pregnant. Anyway I remember having what felt like bad period pain for a few days after -so hot water bottle and paracetamol etc. I had to stay in overnight I think but I everyone did at that time, not sure about now. After a day or two I was completely back to normal although I bled for a week or two. I do remember that I had spotting / light bleeding on and off for a couple of months though. It really wasn't that bad.

I also had a surgical abortion when I was in my early 20s but that was much earlier - 10 weeks maybe? I don't recall feeling any different than the first one.

You'll be fine OP x

I haven't had a surgical, but a late term medical at 17 weeks with bpas. They went through all of what happens during a late term surgical as well, but they said it's basically the same as a surgical at an earlier gestation. They may use general anesthetic and put you to sleep depending on the provider, but bpas told me this is definitely an option. Recovery I believe is the same as early surgical but you may bleed for a bit longer and may be heavier. I think I was at the cut off point for surgical because they really pushed for D&E. Physically I feel a surgical would've been easier as I had to go through full on labour but it was a personal choice in the end. I hope it goes well, you'll be fine Flowers

You need to find out just how far you are on OP, it's a heartbreaking decision to make - just make sure it's the right one for you. It's really brave of you to ask for advice, as you may get the response you do not want to hear. Here to hand hold
