Still bleeding heavily 48 hours after medical abortion tablets

Hi everyone.

I was only 5 weeks so I’m confused as to why this is going on for as long. This is my first abortion.

I inserted the final vaginal tablets over 48 hours ago now and within 2 hours of those passed a large clot which i assume was the pregnancy? However 48 hours later I’m still heavily bleeding. I’m filling a pad approximately every 4-5 hours (however changing much more frequently so not entirely sure) and am also still cramping occasionally sort of like period pains. I also still feel sick and have thrown up twice today.

Any advice? Is this normal? If it gets worse I will of course ring the hospital.

That's normal enough. I was advised to go to hospital if I was filling a pad every hour for more than 2 hours.

I had heavy enough bleeding and cramps for a few days then bleeding on and off for a few weeks

I'm 2 weeks after taking the tablets and still getting spotting occasionally
