Hi I’m just coming on here to talk and get some advice. So I’ve recently just found out I’m pregnant, around 7 weeks. I already have a 6 month old baby girl so considering abortion. Since I have found out I have done nothing but cry and feel guilty for considering this but I live alone and fear I will not be able to cope with two babies 😩 feel so awful and cruel and never thought this is something I would ever do but it’s just not the right time I’m still with baby’s dad but our relationship isn’t in a good place either especially to bring another baby into it. Feel so scared about the procedures to have an abortion ☹️ Do I go for medical or the surgery? Can someone give me some advice from there own experiences the pain etc. please I just need some peace of mind.

I can’t advise but there is a pregnancy choices board here where you will probably find some really good advice. Hope you’re okay

I'd probably ask to get this moved to pregnancy choices too, lots of information on there.

But with you only being 6/7 weeks pregnant, you'll be offered a medical abortion which is two tablets. I was a bit earlier than you when I had my abortion and honestly it wasn't too traumatic , it felt like a really bad period but it was over pretty quickly (I think you take a tablet then one/two days you take another either orally or vaginally) I'm not too sure because I only took one tablet and they embryo literally fell out in the bath that night. I bled for about 2/3 weeks so get some maxi pads.
Abortion isn't cruel, you've said you can't deal with two children and that's fine. There's no shame in it, you've got to do what's best for you (and your existing baby). Hope everything goes well with whatever you decide Thanks

Hi OP. If you are under 12 weeks you can use pills. They are free on the NHS and you should see your GP as soon as you can.

Its unusual to feel 'forever guilty', its completely normal to feel relief, or nothing at all.

Hi

cakedelights · 25/11/2020 22:43

I just want to share my views on this topic. Abortion is a personal but difficult choice & as long as no one is influencing you to do then you will be fine and overcome the guilt

Bethlily2020 · 25/11/2020 22:44

Hi everyone thanks for your comments I have already been to the doctors I had a scan etc today which I think made me feel a lot more emotional about it but I know the best thing for me to have an abortion. I have been offered pills or the surgery. I would prefer the pills so I am in the comfort of my own home but I’m so worried about the pain. I think I’ve read too many stories horror stories online. The nurse said it’s pretty intense cramping with bleeding so I’m hoping it’s not as bad as I think. But still so anxious as I’m so not good with any pain what so ever but I’m sure I’ll be fine with some pain killers.

Mine felt like bad period pain, which I get every month anyway so I was use to it.

I don’t feel at all guilty for my termination. It was 100% the correct decision for me and my family, and it sounds like it would be for you too.

Much love Xx

Thelnebriati · 25/11/2020 22:49

Co-codamol or paracodol are good for period cramps. Just keep an eye on the paracetamol content, and its best not to have any alcohol the same day that you take codeine.

I felt a bit guilty straight after my abortion but hormones and honestly now I feel nothing (I don't even really think about it unless something like this comes up) - the pain for me was like a bad period, I'd suggest pain killers, hot water bottle, chocolate and a film day - maybe ask someone to look after DD for the day and you take your time to recover Thanks

I had to have one at home in April during lockdown.

Figure out what the best time for you is to take the tablets. I figured mine would be at 3pm for the second dose (which triggers everything) I just took myself off to bed and took some time out.

I spent the following few hours in bed, the cramps are rough but they do pass within a few hours. It isn’t even half as bad as I imagined. The painkillers help though - don’t skip them. Once the pregnant has passed things calm down quickly.

I did get a temperature and uncontrollable shakes due to it. This was manageable, I knew i just had to ride it out.

By 7pm I was back up, had a light dinner and a calm evening. The bleeding wasn’t bad from then on.

I am not sure whether you are limited to medical during COVID however I would always choose surgical (and have done) as you can guarantee everything is gone and the procedure is very quick and painless. However I do have issues with the drugs they use for the medical and they don't work on me so that influenced my decision.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 25/11/2020 23:25

Oh OP your poor thing. Only you know what's best for you, please do not feel guilty, you sound like you've been through the wringer.

Medical abortions are easiest at your stage of pregnancy. Have someone there with you, and take care of yourself Thanks

Bethlily2020 · 26/11/2020 09:15

Thank you everyone I think I’m going to go for the medical abortion just so I can have it done sooner rather than wait another week or so. Really hoping the pain won’t be as bad😩 will give yous an update soon 😩

Hi just joining this post as I'm currently about to go through an EMAH. What caused the temp and uncontrollable shakes? That's making me worried

That didn't happen to me but I imagine it's a reaction to the medication
AandA13 · 26/11/2020 20:53

Thanks. I'm so nervous to take my first (mife) the pain side isn't worrying me I'm just scared of the horror stories

Thermo · 26/11/2020 23:14

Yes, Misoprostol can cause a short-term fever. It didn’t make me panic or anything, I was made aware it could happen when I took it and it did. It wears off pretty fast and it’s nothing horrific. It doesn’t happen to everyone.

I know the unknown sounds terrifying. Please don’t overthink the process. I found myself underwhelmed, was nothing like I imagined, and I found myself quickly wanting to return to normal within a few hours and at one point during the process I ended up online shopping, to put it into perspective!

RunningFromInsanity · 27/11/2020 16:18

@Bethlily2020@Alexasmummy13@AandA13 How are you all today?

AandA13 · 29/11/2020 01:18

Hey I'm ok. Had cramps and very light spotting. I took mifepristone on Friday morning. Taking the misoprostol tomorrow morning. I've been a bit nausea and had an upset stomach since friday but dont know if that's normal or I've got s nervous belly. Anyone else have an upset stomach after mifepristone x

I'm so happy to see your message! I will be taking misoprostol today aswell. I'm so worried. I took mifeprostone yesterday at 12pm, so at 1pm today I'll take my 4 pills.

I also had an upset stomach, but I'm not sure if that was me being nervous, I also had a little nausea because of it too x

Bethlily2020 · 29/11/2020 13:16

Hi All so nice to see people commenting who are going through the same thing, it’s making me feel a lot better. I go on Tuesday to discuss what abortion process I want to go ahead with.
I think I’m going to go for the pills. Hoping everything will go ok and not be too painful.

AandA13 · 29/11/2020 14:12

Hi @Bethlily2020 I took my 4 at 10am and just about to take my 2 oral tablets. I actually started bleeding with mifepristone. My cramping has been very bearable. Bleeding hasn't been too bad. Mainly when I stand up to go to the loo.

Bethlily2020 · 29/11/2020 15:38

@Winternights812 @AandA13 wishing you all the luck in the world glad it has been bearable for yous so far. How many weeks pregnant are yous? I will be around 8 when I take my pills x
