Terrified of medical abortion

Hello.

I accidentally got pregnant and I am n out in a position to have another child. I decided to go with medical abortion as access to surgical is very much so limited to due Covid.

I am due to take first pill today and I’m extremely scared.

I am worried about side effects like vomiting etc but also about serious side defects like toxic shock syndrome and sepsis.

I am scared of the unknown and pain...

I am worried I’ll die and leave my two girls without a mother.

Can someone cheer me up?thank you

Thank you for replying @changedmynam3, I've had nausea for weeks now so I guess a bit more won't make much difference. I need to get a train to this appointment and I just had visions of passing clots and all sorts on the way there.

Hi how is everyone doing ? I have been in your position and I was terrified too also was convinced I was going to die . I had a bad experience I have used bpas and Marie stopes . Bpas about 15 years ago and Marie stopes last year I think with b pas you insert 4 vaginally? And Marie stoppes in your mouth resting on your cheeks . My termination didn't go to plan so had to go back in for more tablets to get the rest of the tissue out . Both Marie stopes and bpas were brilliant with me . I would 100 percent put a complaint in . I know some people pass huge clots and loads of blood and others lighter than a period and nothing to it at all . If it has worked all your pregnancy symptoms will disappear over the next week or two for me it was instant as soon as it came out I felt instantly better . X

Willowdaisy . Honestly try not to worry I promise you everything will be ok ❤️ I remember sitting in the room waiting for my surgical and I was bawling convinced I wasn't going to wake up the nurse so so nice she said I got more chance of walking out of here and getting hit by a plane then actaully anything happening. It's built in to us to be scared . Have you got support? Xxx

Willowdaisyholly · 21/06/2020 16:10

@familys2018 thank you and yes, I haven't told anyone irl except my bf and he is obviously coming with and supporting me so it could be much worse.

changedmynam3 · 22/06/2020 06:49

@Willowdaisyholly you will be fine! I promise! I've had surgical before to remove a missed miscarriage and it was such a sad time for me but as soon as I woke from the operation I felt so much better! I very much doubt the oral tablet will cause clots (or any bleeding at all). Let us know how you get on! x

Onlythepiratesarefree · 18/07/2020 10:49

I’m about to go through this (pills due on Monday). I am so very scared and hoping there are some lovely women out there willing to give some support x

Softener111 · 18/07/2020 20:19

I've just had a medical abortion myself last week. I took the first pill Tuesday then the second lot of pills Thursday. Nothing happened for about 4 hours then I started bleeding. I had cramps and pains. Nothing more than a really bad period cramp.

Everybody is different and everyone's body will react different to this.

But none of you should be scared,
You will all be absolutely fine ❤️

Ell19 · 18/07/2020 20:22

I took the first tablet yesterday, the four tablets at around 5pm and I’ve just taken the final two tablets 20 minutes ago.

No bleeding yet but some period like pain and back ache, I’m here alone so hoping it is over soon.

Sending love to you all.

Onlythepiratesarefree · 18/07/2020 21:44

@Softener111 thanks so much for replying and sharing your reassurances. I am so angry, afraid and upset that I am in this position, but I know this decision is right for me.

@Ell19 I do so hope all goes well with you. Please come back and let me know how you get on. Sending you lots of love.

Ell19 · 18/07/2020 21:48

@Onlythepiratesarefree thank you. Cramping quite a bit now and the bleeding had started, only when I wipe which seems quite common from reading other threads? There is blood in the loo after I’ve been but I’m not checking too closely as don’t want to see anything else.

I would be between 5-6 weeks and the cramping has made wince twice but it’s not unmanageable and I’ve not taken pain relief yet. The cold shivers keep coming and going, it was helpful to read other people had this.

I’ll post again tomorrow to give my honest experience because I found other people’s so helpful when I was searching.

Softener111 · 18/07/2020 22:50

@Onlythepiratesarefree please don't be angry at yourself. You have your reasons for doing this and that doesn't make you a bad person ❤️

It's upsetting, it's heartbreaking but this is as you say the right decision for you. You will be going through all sorts of emotions right now and that's understandable. But you've got your reasons, Like we all have. But I promise you, you will be fine!

If you need anyone to speak to I will be here for you if you need it 😊

Onlythepiratesarefree · 19/07/2020 09:31

@Softener111 it’s such a reassurance to know I have someone there who understands what I’m going through. Thank you for your kind words and offer of support. I can’t wait for this to be over.

@Ell19 how are you feeling this morning?

Ell19 · 19/07/2020 09:51

I’m ok, I felt the same as you - angry that I had gotten myself into this situation but Softner is right. You have to do what’s right for you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t feel emotional about it.

I’m ok this morning, bleeding is manageable and I haven’t really had anymore pain or any clots so my anxious side is telling me it hasn’t worked. Feels like a lighter than normal period, I’m going to move around a bit more today and see if that helps.

Softener111 · 19/07/2020 10:22

@Ell19 how far along were you when you took the tablets? As I was just coming up to six weeks when I took mine and I didn't have any clots really, a few little ones but nothing like I've read about so I was worried myself that it hadn't worked.

I think if you are really early it won't show as much if that's makes sense? I'm still bleeding now but it's died down a lot and I have no cramps a week later.

Ell19 · 19/07/2020 10:51

I am less than 6 weeks so that’s good to know @Softener111 thank you.

Onlythepiratesarefree · 19/07/2020 11:57

I’m exactly 6 weeks along today so I’m hoping that it’s not going to be too horrendous.
@Ell19 I’m so glad you’re feeling ok today. I’ll keep you posted on how I get on.

Ell19 · 20/07/2020 09:11

@Onlythepiratesarefree how are you today?

My bleeding has increased but no pain, it’s like a normal period now for me. Overall the whole thing was a lot less traumatic than I was expecting, I hope it’s the same for you Flowers

Onlythepiratesarefree · 20/07/2020 10:05

Good morning @Ell19

I took the first pill at 8.30. I feel ok, just very anxious about what tomorrow will bring. Did you sleep ok? Have you taken painkillers? X

Ell19 · 20/07/2020 10:08

I slept really well last night, I’m hindsight I probably shouldn’t have taken my tablets on Saturday evening. I thought I could just sleep through the worst of it but the cramps and shivering did keep waking me up.

I haven’t had to take any painkillers at all, my bleeding started 30 minutes after I took the last lot of tablets, I had three quite severe cramps that I contemplated taking pain relief for but after that everything was manageable.

I only had bleeding when I wiped up until this morning, so over 24 hours since taking the tablets so don’t be too concerned if not much happens straight away.

Be kind to yourself for the next few days, nice snacks and warm baths helped me x

Onlythepiratesarefree · 20/07/2020 11:54

@Ell19 sounds like you’re physically over the worst of it now. Hope you’re still getting plenty of rest and being kind to yourself.

Onlythepiratesarefree · 21/07/2020 09:42

@Ell19 how are you today? I’ve just taken the Misoprostol and I’m feeling very worried about what’s to happen next.

Ell19 · 21/07/2020 10:34

@Onlythepiratesarefree I’ve been thinking about you all morning.

I’m ok today, no pain just quite heavy bleeding still but heavy periods are normal for me.

You might experience some cramping, I felt like I was due on after I took the first set of tablets - just a heavy achy feeling. The bleeding started just after the second set of tablets so it may be the same for you. Have you taken any pain relief? It’s normal to be anxious but I promise you it was not as bad as I was expecting. I didn’t feel anything pass, just some small clots but I did sit on the loo a lot when the bleeding started as I didn’t want to see anything.

Onlythepiratesarefree · 21/07/2020 10:45

@Ell19 are you still bleeding heavily today? I took the tablets at 9.30 and there’s already some bleeding.

I have no pain but I’m feeling a bit dizzy, which I think might be anxiety and stress as I’ve worked myself up over this through the night.

I might take some painkillers. Have you still managed without them?

Ell19 · 21/07/2020 12:26

@Onlythepiratesarefree it’s quite heavy, but less so than yesterday.

How are you feeling now? Flowers

Onlythepiratesarefree · 21/07/2020 13:21

@Ell19 I’m getting regular dull aches. Hoping for a sleep this afternoon to pass some time. Are you still resting up?
