Still bleeding after medical abortion

Hi all,
I had a medical abortion last Wednesday and am a little bit surprised at how much I’m still bleeding 6 days later.
I was only just over 5 weeks pregnant so didn’t expect it to be quite this much, the blood is still quite red and sometimes a bit gunge like , should I be expecting it to taper off now?
I’m worried incase maybe i have retained products and with it being nearly Xmas it will have to be dragged out till January to get sorted, would I know by now if this was the case? or am I normal to still be having a lot of blood nearly a week later?

I had one on the 22nd November I was only 4/5 weeks pregnant, and I am still spotting now! Been told it could happen up till 4 weeks! X

Oh gosh really, I was hoping the less further along the pregnancy then the less time it would all last.

I had a medical termination on the 18th Oct. I had around 4 weeks of bleeding, it was very variable. Spotting some days, absolute flooding on others. I was further along than you though, almost 9 weeks. I think it's pretty usual to bleed for a few weeks afterwards.

Did it just stop? Mine is now like brown/yellowy but then sometimes bright red it’s so soul destroying just want it finished! I’m 3 weeks tomorrow!

Sorry to say but I bled for at least 6 weeks after. As pp said, some days were a flood, others were just spotting.
It then took a couple of months for my period to return.

I had one a couple of years ago at 6 weeks and I bled like a heavy period for a few days and then it completely stopped for a couple of days before starting up again for another week. There was light spotting for a further week after that. Nurse said it’s completely normal to bleed for anywhere from 3 days to 6 weeks and everyone’s different.
The things to watch out for is if there’s a foul smell or if you have a temp or bad pain that won’t go away. This could be an infection.

Oh and my period returned about 38 days later and then went back to a 28 day cycle the following month

If I could also ask another question plz..
The nurse at my appointment said no intercourse or tampons for 2 weeks so does this mean if I am still bleeding at 2 weeks I can stop using pads and use a tampon? Or might I get an infection if I am still bleeding? Really dislike pads!

I don’t remember being told anything about that, sorry. I’d give it another week or so, but tbh it should start to slow down and become a trickle soon enough.

It should get light enough that you’ll only need a panty liner within a week. I would avoid tampons until your next period just to be 100% certain of no infection and maybe give sex another week or two. You are often very fertile after an abortion so be ultra careful too as I know someone who fell pregnant again 2 weeks after one

I waited the two weeks to use a tampon just to avoid infection! Something to do with the cervix 🤷🏼‍♀️!

3 weeks ago I had my 2nd tablet and the bleeding after being tame for days is back! Its starting to get me down massively I cannot see the end of this!!!!!

Nicx85 just wondering how things are going for you now? Any better? My bleeding has come back heavy since yesterday at 15 days post abortion after 4 days of nothing! Never going through this again it’s so drawn out!

Hey! Sounds similar to what happened to me, it’s a month today, and I’m still spot bleeding called nurse yest she said it’s just my hormones trying to settle, said a bleed (aka my period) might help, by I am gonna stay on my pill for another few weeks! I have loaded up on vitamins apparently helps Estrogen levels x

So 5 weeks on I’ve had nothing for 5 days - tonight my bleeding has came on very heavy?! I’m still on pill so shouldn’t be due my period! Any ideas?

I can’t leave the toilet it’s that bad

I’m just back from hospital had a thorough check, internal examination, scan etc she thinks it’s either my hormones playing up today or start of my period, but as I’m on the pill could be my hormones!

Im glad you wrote this because I have been sitting here going crazy exactly what you described is what I’m going threw an I was the same amount of weeks as you so it is normal to bleed more then 3 weeks I’ve been bleeding for 3 weeks know an it’s jus the way you described

I had an abortion two weeks ago still bleeding heavy with lots of headaches and dizziness. Is this a sign that I need

I had a medical abortion on 8 June.i bleed for a day and it stopped then i went ahead with the second dose then I bleed for 10 days🥺it stopped and I was having brownish discharge for five days 😩and then The bleeding came back now is 12day and it’s still coming in clot 😭but I have no pain is it normal 😭😭?? Pls help a sister. I was 3weeks pregnant

It’s been a month now and am still bleeping

I took the pills as advised by my Dr; tmw will be 2 weeks. Pregnancy was 7 wks. I started bleeding again yesterday after a few days of just spotting.
Im now concerned because there are some clots. Kinda scared tbh.
