Have just turned 43, recent missed period. Thought perimenopause! Sore chest, took a test today and showed 1-2wks pregnant!
In a very new relationship! With a man who has no children, which he regrets but not doing so in 20s/30s not mid 40s! But had said open to the idea.
He's great with my children - 8 and 4yrs.
Whilst so love the thought of another child, I'm not really ready to have one but will manage.
However, due to age unlikely to be viable! (I'm very surprised even pregnant! On the pill)
Statistics show 50% chance at my age. Plus I'm worried about not having a healthy baby when have been blessed with 2 healthy children.
Think I should how things go.
Equally if progresses will have to make the decision of a medical termination I believe by 9wks.
Have previously had to take the tablets due to an embryo not developing, inbetween having my 2 children. At 11wks but baby stopped growing at 5wks. It was horrific, going into labour etc.
Not sure at my age could make the choice to terminate.
Any advice and opinions please.

Congratulations! That's sure to be a surprise but equally, you sound like you are wrapping your head around it and your partner seems supportive. I may be wrong, but your biggest fear seems to be a concern that there may be a problem with the baby due to your age (and rolling the dice a third time - I get it). Could you look into Harmony testing which I think you can do from quite early on on the pg, and which will flag up any issues and so if there are difficulties, you can cross that bridge then, rather than pre-emptively trying to make your mind up?

Plus - did you see the news this weekend about the 75 year old in India who gave birth to twins (IVF)? 43 is positively juvenile Grin
