You don't have to pay if you go to Marie Stoppes directly. Call them in the morning.

Good luck to you Flowers

Ime it varies around the country, but my experience was a very long time ago.

You have my sympathy pink please look after yourself and I would consider telling your dh if you possibly can.

If not fair enough, but it is a huge secret to keep forever.

You are not obliged to tell your husband OP. Best of luck Flowers

Ice3 · 27/11/2016 21:19

I phoned up a private place and they did it for free because of my postcode for some reason so definitely give people a call.

Nksw · 27/11/2016 21:19

Get in touch with BPAS. If you are able to travel then it's possible to have it all done within three days, with a little flexibility. I am living proof. All on the NHS.

If transport is an issue, I'm in West Yorkshire and can travel. I am willing to help if you want it or need it.

pinklimonade · 27/11/2016 21:22

Bless you Nk, that's so lovely I can drive but thanks.

capercaillie · 27/11/2016 21:44

You can self refer to BPAS or Marie Stopes and get it on the NHS. Your GP doesn't have to be involved or even know. I've recent experience and have found BPAS really helpful. It may depend on your area and how close a clinic is though. It's taken just over 2 weeks from discovering pregnancy to having the termination. Marie Stopes would have been longer but again I think it depends on area.

pinklimonade · 27/11/2016 21:49

I did that last time but it was quite expensive, nearly £800.

amammabear · 27/11/2016 21:50

Don't be angry xxx

pinklimonade · 27/11/2016 21:52

I don't know if it varies by location but I've had two via Marie Stopes (called them directly) and didn't have to pay (in Reading).

Call them when your husband isn't around and they'll tell you all you need to know.

Oswin · 27/11/2016 22:21

I think it's living in the same NHS area that Means's its done on the NHS.

When you ring up make sure you tell them you need it free.

SassyPants19 · 27/11/2016 22:28

You must attend a clinic to abort and sadly I found his out for myself 2weeks ago. As it was, I had a positive test on the Wednesday morning and had a doctors appointment before lunch that day. I had the next available clinic slot the following Tuesday and had my abortion then. I was lucky as it was suggested it was only a consultation but I must have ticked enough boxes to qualify for treatment that day.

alittlenamechange · 27/11/2016 22:39

Ring Marie Stopes and BPAS direct and find out if you are in the right catchment to self-refer.

I am south west (Bristol). I was able to self-refer to Marie Stopes, never went to GP at all. In fact, MS asked me for permission to send the notes to my GP and I said I would prefer not, so as far as I'm aware my GP doesn't even know I had the procedure. This was a few years ago so may not be the same now.

It was only a few days from first phone call to appointment. I didn't need any time to think it over, my decision was very straightforward and I just wanted to get on with it asap.

alittlenamechange · 27/11/2016 22:41

Just to be clear, I did not pay at Marie Stopes. It was covered by the NHS even for self-referral.

GinIsMySaviour · 29/11/2016 19:40

Hey OP, not sure if you're still watching this thread but I just wanted to check in and say that I hope you are okay and have found somewhere that can help you quickly.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 29/11/2016 19:45

Flowers for you.

A difficult time.

The biggest stress for me was just finding a place and booking a consultation and treatment on the same day. Once that was booked I could relax a bit.

If your husband finds out you are pregnant and want to terminate, or finds out you have terminated, what would he do? Repeat what a previous poster said: are you safe? I ask because most wives would feel comfortable telling their husbands and discussing together, safe in the knowledge the husband may be unhappy or even on some level angry, but would never interfere with her reproductive rights.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 29/11/2016 19:45

P.s. Self referral at BPAS is FREE.

Marie Stopes only does medical now, not surgical.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 29/11/2016 19:47

PPS. To clarify, I'm not at all saying you should tell your husband if you don't feel like it. You don't have to tell anyone at all.

But sometimes they do find out by accident and you should always look to your personal safety.
