Have just read that you have to be 5/6 wks to have a termination, can someone clarify why? If they do bloods that show you're def pg?

I'm being way too previous about this, if I'm pg it's barely 2 weeks, but would like to be prepared. I cannot (for medical reasons) stay pg.

Thanks.

Are there not pills you can take to cause abortion? Don't think there is a minimum amount of weeks at which to take them

You know that 5 weeks pregnant is 1 week late, don't you?

dementedpixie · 14/08/2016 13:21

But yes, you count from the first date of your last period

OurLass · 14/08/2016 13:24

Possibly because first you have to have a scan to make sure it's a normal pregnancy ie not ectopic

Oh, of course Imperial, it's been so long I'd forgotten that. thanks to you all.

I'm going through this right now.

They've told me that you only go by last period until you have a scan to date it as women ovulate at different times and have different cycles .

You have to have a scan to prove you have a viable pregnancy, some clinics won't give any medication till around 6/7 weeks. It literally depends on your area/ clinic.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this trying, it's so hard.

Thanks advice I'm not in the UK, it's all handled by private clinics here so I'll call someone and ask them this morning.
