Fizzy Drinks....

I have been drinking both Coke/Dr.Pepper for a good part of my pregnancy (hardly drink tea or coffee, v.rare) maybe about 2 glasses or so a day sometimes more. DH reckons this is why baby is so active and tries to encourage me to cut down. Is it really that bad?
Did anyone or is anyone else having fizzy drinks throughout pregnancy?
Anyone had lots and baby was fine?

Please note that i am no longer working and have plenty of time on my hands, be prepared for questions

ChaCha: I thought that Sunday Times article was surprising, but interesting. It does have to be said, though, that the test subjects were drinking quite a lot of coke per day. I'm surprised that the calcium deficiency was demonstrable in such a short time, though.

Red - I found it quite surprising too but definitely interesting stuff. Makes you think doesn't it?

Thanks for all the replies, I really like the idea of the sparkling water and juice, I drink so much water when being sick (sorry for TMI) that i just can't drink it when i'm well. Sparkling water sounds great as does the cranberry juice.

bigdonna - good to hear that

I craved dr pepper whilst pregnant with dd (now aged 3) and she turned out fine. This time round it has been cherry coke. I am not too concerened as i don't drink tea or coffee and drink plenty of water between glasses of coke.

I also make sure i drink at least a pint of milk each day even though i can't stand the stuff.

I drank about 3 ltrs of coke a day when pg with DS1! With DS2 I managed to control it a bit and stopped drinking it altogether at 35 wks (No reason for this.. just didnt have time to buy any one day and then thought " you've managed one day without so you can manage another day without")
I am now pg with baby number 3 and am trying to avoid it but have been drinking lucozade in the mornings when I feel worse. Not sure which has more caffiene in .. coke or lucozade but I am now trying to limit my intake of lucozade to one small bottle a day. PS both my DSs are ok but they can be a bit of a handfull.
