If I have a private scan and something is wrong do I have to pay for further treatment?

If I were you Id go and park myself down at the local A&E or EPU and just say the pains are bad and youd like to be seen.
I think this is definately a situation where its important to have your fears heard and need some reassurance.
Sit there and dont let anyone send you home until youve been scanned.
Sometimes you have to shout at the NHS to get them to listen, dont be fobbed off

nymphadora, i second what mosschops said and go and park yourself in A&E
And to reassure you, it might not be ectopic... i'm on 2nd pg and in early pg i had horrible pains, was convinced we'd lost baby. Had a scan and found out i had a cyst on an ovary that was causing the pain.
hope you get seen soon

Thanks everyone
tatty its my third on top of two sections

(copied over from my antenatal thread)

Well what a saga of this morning am now having a celebratory grapefruit!

Pain started again after I had taken the kids to school

Phoned Xray at 10am - please phone back in half an hour when they are all out of a team meeting

Phoned back- no record of me, she then looked at todays in pile to check , no again. I burst into tears. She gives me fax number to get GP to fax referral.

Phone GP cry again -nice lady this time says she will get a new form from a different GP (yesterdays not in) and will fax it asap.

Whilst I am on the phone the other phone rings and X ray say come before 12:30.

phone dh leaving a message as he is in a meeting.

Phone rings again and Gp has said to go to EPU. I said I didn't know we have one and receptionist said 'neither did I, new apparantly'

Start getting ready to go and GP calls again and says before 11:30 (now 11am and its about half an hour away with crap parking)

Rush to hosp.Wait for 10 mins in huge queue to say I'm there and get seen straight away.

Nurse took some details, forcefed me water and took me for a scan.Scan found baby in the right place and saw the heart beat. Nice scan lady produced wad a tissues for me as I bawled(bit of a theme now)

Saw the nurse again who said that for now we'll have to assume its my scar as thats where the pain seems most concentrated and not to do too much (with my energy levels ?)

Came out of the hospital switched my phone on and had a text from dh (11:30) saying his meeting has just finished AT THE HOSPITAL and where was my appt ( guess what happened next .....)

Great news, so pleased for you.

I was the same - had quite bad pains and stabbing type pains on right hand side. I was also worried, so did go for a private scan and everything was fine.

Fingers crossed everything is ok - remember in all the dreadful stats you read, that the vast majority of pregnancies progress fine and result in a healthy baby! It's so difficult when you first get pregnant to believe it though.

From what I read, pains with an ectopic would be unlikely to wax and wane - they get steadily worse and worse as the cells multiply, until it is absolutely excruciating.

oops - sorry, I didn't see second page! Glad everything is fine - phew!
