Best Maternity Leggings?

Anjelika · 15/12/2009 14:53

Hi

I wanted to get some maternity leggings for wearing with dresses and heels(!) over the Xmas period.

I ordered the Next ones, wore them for a day but felt like Nora Batty - they were wrinkling at the knees and I spent the whole time having to hitch them up. Can anyone recommend some reasonably priced ones that stay in shape a lot better? I thought I would prefer over the bump but the under the bump style of the Next ones was actually OK.

Thanks

Anjelika

I'm afraid I dont know - but deffo not mothercare over bump - thewy have a crapppy band that rolls up (suppoed to be 'support')

bigpreggybelly · 15/12/2009 15:08

I like my roll top cropped ones from Blooming Marvellous - they come up a bit big though, but really comfortable. Living in them at the mo. You can wear them over bump or roll/fold them down to under bump.

mistletoekisses · 15/12/2009 15:09

seraphine ones are lush!

bogie · 15/12/2009 15:10

New look ones are quite good and are over bump.

ohnelly · 15/12/2009 15:12

I got some new look ones that look a bit like jeans the other day - they are comfy & over bump and dont get baggy! And were £10

Anjelika · 15/12/2009 15:37

Thanks - I will try New Look. Seraphine are a bit out of my price bracket right now.

I got a little 'Mama-to-be' bag for £17.99 from H&M. It contains a pair of leggings, a bump band and a fab stretchy vest. All organic cotton and v comfy.

amyboo · 15/12/2009 15:53

I second the recommendation for the organic cotton ones from H&M. They're over the bump, but very comfy and don't go baggy at the bum or knees. They come up quite big though, so I found they only really fit well from about 22 weeks (am now 24+4)

soniaweir · 15/12/2009 16:15

ive got great ones from marks and spencers that i bought for my first pregnancy and have worn them even when not pregnant, they are very comfy!

Thandeka · 15/12/2009 16:30

H&M ones for about £12. I live in them in fact I probably should have got a couple of pairs....

TakeLovingChances · 16/12/2009 06:21

I got Topshop maternity leggings, they cost £12 and didn't really impress me.

They wrinkle at the knees, and don't go over the bump, or do anything with the bump that any normal pair of leggings would do ie, they sit below the bump.

They fit well in the thighs though and are a good length.

Fourisenoughthanks · 16/12/2009 12:13

I actually love the Topshop ones. I like that they sit under your bump, just personal preference, I like my tummy feeling free. Mine don't wrinkle... unless I've worn them a fair bit and they need a wash! They're a good length too. They're possibly a bit thin so if you like warm legs they might not be quite right for you but they've been a godsend for me. Have worn them most days in this pregnancy.

soniaweir - I sent off for, received and am keeping the M&S ones as they seem far less wrinkly than the Next pair. Just after another pair now - have sent off for New Look ones after recs on here yesterday. I found there was too much choice on the Top Shop website plus they seemed a bit more pricey. Has anyone tried Asda's? Seem to remember they are over the bump.

I got some Seraphine ones off ebay. They are fantastic and really comfortable - I've been living in them... But they are totally artificial, and have given me thrush - so I've learned my lesson and I'm going to follow your recommendation and get some nice cotton H&M ones. I also got Topshop ones off ebay (not as good as Seraphine by a long chalk) and Dorothy Perkins (bloody awful, I thought).

lainey1981 · 21/09/2010 07:27

I got some Topshop over the bump ones which were about £16 IIRC, they are and have been wearing them religiously for months - I am 31w now.

Warning the seems to come up a bit big so when i tried to wear them at 17 weeks without a bump spent half my time pulling them up - but they are coming into their own now

pinkgrasshopper · 21/09/2010 08:22

Another votes for H&M ones! I'm also getting a lot of use out of 'normal' Uniqlo leggings 2 sizes too big.

AbiAbi · 21/09/2010 08:28

Another vote for New Look here, Asos are quite good too, although are saggy by the end of the day!

saoirse86 · 21/09/2010 09:14

I got some from M&S which are a bit odd. They're not under or over the bump, just hang around in the middle of my belly. They're really see through and wrinkle on the knees. I'm wearing them now but only because I'm 39+4 and officially can't fit into anything anymore.
The ones I love are the H&M ones which are cropped leggings and over the bump with a proper shape in them for the bump. I got a size 8 being optimistic that I'd stay that size, but even though I'm more a 12 now they still fit really well. I've atcually thought about buying another couple of pairs for future pregnancies in case they stop making them.

Mummyofmax · 21/09/2010 10:27

I just bought ordinary leggings from tesco. £6 each! I normally wear size 16 and just bought an 18-20 size, they arent that much bigger but enough to last me and i'm 37 weeks now! x

PaigeTurner · 21/09/2010 10:36

I'm wearing ASOS and think they're fab. (£12).

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 21/09/2010 13:04

I bought some in Asda yesterday £6 and they are really comfy. Only a few Asda stores do maternity clothes but you can buy online.

EmmaKateWH · 21/09/2010 15:51

seraphine ones are total crap in my experience. They split open down the inner seams and bobble immediately. Seraphine sent me a new pair when I complained, and the new pair did exactly the same thing so I have given up on them. They are RUBBISH!

SaraL77 · 21/09/2010 15:57

I got some Dorothy Perkins ones, I think they're great, 'jersey' material, really soft, over the bump and they have shorter and longer lengths which I think is fab as I'm only 5ft4 and the long ones look silly on me. These ones come to 3/4 down my leg.

can't remember how much they were but I remember thinking they were a good price!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 21/09/2010 20:03

I bought two pairs in black and grey from Mothercare - not the ones with the roll-able support band, the £15 ones with a huge over-bump bit. I had great hopes of them, but they are synthetic, which is yuk, and still fall down! Angry Wish I'd shopped around but couldn't find any others locally. Am currently wearing Debenhams non-mat ones under the bump.

Try ebay for 2nd hand Seraphine ones? I got a lovely Seraphine denim skirt for about £5 there. It'll do nicely for after pregnancy, too.
