30 weeks and past few nights fall asleep as normal around 10 then waking up about 11.30 and not able to sleep. Feel slightly paniced and struggle to get back to sleep.

DD (now three) i had the same thing but as my dad was very ill with cancer put it down to that. Im not worried about anything or worried about birth. I know you sleep less towards the end but is anyone else feeling paniced???

I am 30 weeks today and hvae been up for a few nights with general restlessness. Last night gave in to it. Got up did loads of paprework, tidying and bought baby essentials online. We havent really bought anything yet.

Not panicky tho just starting to feel this urge to get stuff done, am making lists. Its a very powerful urge with me so didnt stress about needing to sleep. I often dont sleep well so tend to be relaxed when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Maybe you are remebering how it felt to lose your dad tho. I think we have very strong physical memories like that so being this pregnant triggers how you felt last time. Like geting upset on the anniversary of a death or break up even when you conscious mind has forgotten about it.

How are you doing now?

Yes i was exactly the same but not due to bereavement just anxiety over everything. Started at about 29 weeks and i just couldn't sleep at all, couldn't function at work so gave up early. I now get most of my sleep from 6am onwards and just keep reassuring myself its part of the process. My insomnia now reminds me of when i suffered with it when i was really unwell 10 years ago - vicious circle. I hope that knowing other people do get this anxiety/insomnia helps you to feel like u are not alone.

I am 30 weeks and have been sleeping terribly x I am worried about everything got gestational diabetes but am more worried about swine flu. Got the injection today but dd came down with the flu yesterday so am now really anxious i am going to get it even though had the injection.

Am tossing and turning all night thinking about babies arrival and worrying and stressing - bloody hormones make you irrational, hopefully we will all start to feel calmer soon x

After starting the thread i came down with a terrible cold which turned into sinus infection. Just getting over it with the help of antibiotics and since have been sleeping o.k.

I think it was my body possibly coming down with cold before i even had any symptoms. The previous anxitey could have been down to loosing my dad and this time because my body was run down. Or i am maybe that tired at the min i could sleep through a storm.

Its a funny anxious feeling, like you have drank to much red bull andcant concerntrate on anything. I even get a slight strobe effect with my eyes.

Hopefully the next 9 weeks will be the normal restlessness and not anxious nights.

Thanks everyone x

Anxiety is a horrible feeling. I had it bad when my DS was born after worrying PG.

I recommend getting out of bed if your not back to sleep within 30 mins. Get up and have warm milk and a banana as they have calming effects.
Force yourself to do it as the anxiety and restlesness gets worse as time goes on then you'll kick yourself when 3 hours have passed.

Im good at handing out the advice but swine flu has really got me climbing the walls at the moment!
