Are you around the 30 weeks mark?

And can you tell what position your baby is? How do you know? What signs are telling you your baby is in the position you think he/she is? Am I making any sense?

Yes I am and he is transverse - I know because I feel his head on one side and his bum on the other and it really stretches my muscles and is actually quite uncomfortable - but I have advance knowledge ds1 was also transverse. Have also had it confirmed at each doctors appointment.

at midwives asking you what position the babies are in. Every mw I've ever seen has had very strong opinions... even when they were wrong.

DS was only ever breech, and it was so obvious to me, even though he was my first. DD is doing something wierd, but I'm not entirely sure. I don't think she's head down, but I can't quite work out what the heck she is. Transverse I think, but she's not much of a kicker like her brother, so it's hard to tell.

I've absolutely no idea at the moment! Baby was breech at 27 weeks when I had a 4D scan, because the sonographer told me so and then a few days later I had terrible pains at the top of my bump and then I changed shape completely. MW confirmed to me that baby had turned and at 28 wks was head down. Right now at nearly 30 wks - dont have a clue!!!

londonlottie - thought you'd been quiet for a while - why are you in hospital on bedrest? Are you OK?

I'm 30 wks - the mw told me baby is transverse...with hindsight I could have figured that out from all the kicks and elbows at the side, but at the same time last week it felt like baby was riverdancing on my bladder - so maybe she was breech then ???

My baby was transverse till my 28 week check which I had at 29 1/2 weeks According to the midwives he is now head down LOA

I actually couldn't tell that he'd changed position as I still feel like I am being stretched sideways which I never felt first time round with DD.

One dead give away is when you feel hiccups in your pelvic region and bottom

I think he is still moving about so he could move back to being transverse by my next appt.

Funny you should mention the kicking as I have the opposite experience. DD was a lovely docile baby in the womb and let her mum get loads of sleep and never jumped on my bladder. Ds, however, is kicking me constantly which I am not used to at all!

Am 29 weeks. Baby was head down last week at 4D scan, but I knew that as all the kicking was on one side at the top of the bump. The head is down, the back the other side (where I never ever get any kicks).

It's my third pg, that 's why I can feel everything. My stomach is all loose and the lack of muscle is quite shocking.

Does that make a difference tomate? This is only my second but perhaps she's kicking as much as her brother but because of my flabby muscles I can't feel her so much. Still, what kicks I do get are still very much low and to the side. Never had anything much above my pubic hair line. Maybe the odd wriggle...

Oh I can never tell where these blooming babies are!

Lol Head. Mw told me last week that she was breech then which fitted in with low kicks and that what I thought was a head was a bum, so what do I know? After that could feel head around ribs. Today nowhere near as much rib pain (thank heavens), tender skin near stomach feeling lower and just felt kicks where mw said head was last week, so maybe she's turned. Means I'll be able to bend over my plate to eat dinner without spillage tonight .

I'm 31wks (EDD 27th) but have no idea at all! I have limbs poking out all over, head one side and a bum another (not sure which is which!) but then something appears from behind my belly button so I really have no idea what my very active little creature is up to! Hopefully will find out when I see MW next week.

Headfairy, my first pregnancy didn't give me a bump till I was about 5 or 6 months gone. I didn't get any limbs sticking out, bump was very tidy and tight = baby loved being swaddled when born (my own conclusion).

Second pregnancy, bump appeared a tad bit earlier, then got limbs sticking out towards the end, didn't look so neat. I could tell how the baby was lying, but only by poking it . Baby didn't really take to swaddling once born, which I thought was because she had more room to move in there, less restricted.

Third pregnancy: bump appeared at about 10-12 weeks!! Felt first kicks at 15 weeks, have had bits sticking out early on (about 23-24 weeks?). Can feel every hickup, bump hangs down a bit (dp says it doesn't, it feels like it), and isn't so neat, which I attribute to lack of holding muscles.

We'll see if my home-made theory about swaddling is confirmed, this one should hate it with a passion!

I am sure every person is different and feels things differently..If your DS was breech, I wouldn't be surprised if this one wasn't breech too, as it has to do with the shape of your pelvis. The bubs settle in the position that is the most comfortable for them, with the biggest space kept for the head.

Got muddled up in double negations...

My lil' dude is still moving all over the place (29+5). If I move so does he, although now he is starting to play chase the tapping finger so I can get him to move (sometimes) without having to move myself.

Mine was transverse till last weekend (currently 29+6) - it had a favourite side preferring to lie on his/her right and kicking me in my right. Over the course of the Saturday it went head down and the kicks moved to my diaphram area. I overdid the Chrismas cake baking on Sunday, made myself overly tired and it moved back into transverse.

On Monday he/she was touring the womb and I swear that he/she had moved to one side of the womb! By the middle of this week it's moved vertical so my stomach and lungs were really squashed and people at work said the bump looked really high/squashed (I'm quite short). Can't yet work out which way round he/she is. Weird. I'd like to think there was not much room in there but my kid seems to find a way!!

Just read in my pregnancy book that the majority of babies go head down from 30 weeks - which is next week for me - so be interesting to see if she turns.
