Massage in early pregnancy

So I used to have monthly massages. My masseuse is brilliant and is trained in pre-natal massage so wouldn't do any abdominal work or the point below my ankles which is a risk factor and wouldn't use any aromatherapy oils. She comes to my house and it is a real treat.

Massages are incredible for stress relief and bloody hell I am stressed at the min as pregnant again (4weeks only) after MMC at 10 weeks only 40 days ago! (No period in between!) Oh and am working my notice on a stressful job for the next 7 weeks but typically once (if) I hit 12 weeks I then have no stress and all is fine with the world and I am on holiday for the next 6 weeks and then start new job in sept.

So I am thinking a weekly massage for the next 7 weeks may just chill me out enough to keep this one growing (not worried about it being sticky- as it was an MMC it was too sticky that was the problem!) but then am also worried massage may not be the best idea incase it happens again. Then again have decided to stick with Accu for the next 7 weeks too as it was only when I stopped accupuncture that the emby stopped growing and they can do this point on the top of your head supposed to reduce chance of miscarriage.

So anyhow should I do it?

I'd ask the masseuse- she'll have a good idea.
The ones around me seem to say not in the first trimester but I suspect that is because the MC rate in the first trimester is high and they don't want to be blamed for anything. I once went for an acupressure massage where I said it was ok to go ahead even though there was a chance I was pregnant (and was warned that it might cause contractions, which it didn't as far as I could tell). A few weeks later I was diagnosed with an ectopic and although my rational brain says it was not the massage, I still haven't been for one since!

I think (may be wrong though) that the acupuncture point at the top of your head is supposed to make the bean stick. TBH I reckon that if it is not meant to be and so stops developing no power on this earth will make it work out. That's pretty blunt I know (sorry) but the point is that there is every chance this bean is fine. So after all that unhelpful rambling I reckon that if I were you I would ask the masseuse and then do whatever was going to make me feel best. Pregnancy is all about unknowns, so you just have to do what feels right.

And congratulations. I'm very pleased it has happened for you again so quickly.

BTW, I don't think you live far from me and I am looking for a masseuse trained in the pregnancy stuff in a feeble attempt to keep my BP down. Could you pass her details on to me please? Thanks.

She said previously she is willing to do massage in 1st trimester and she had them all the way through her pregnancy*. She is fully trained and I do figure now that it probably isn't going to affect the outcome and it will make me feel better so I think I will go for it.

Likewise with the accu -won't affect the outcome but will make me feel better and doing something positive.

Have booked them in for the begining of the week for the next 6 weeks and then have accu at the end of the week so its like mini goalposts each week for me to get too.

Her website is:

She is great I have been a client for a couple of years now. Does yummy soaps too.

*I haven't been able to bring myself to officially tell her about this one so sent a cyptic please can I have 6 sessions of massage with no abdominal or ankle points and no aromatherapy and if you work out what that means please dont talk to me about it as am in denial!

P.S MrsHappy everytime I drink a pint of water I think of you now! Haha!
