I'm here, although I was thinking about trying to go back to sleep.

My insomnia is caused by severe pregnancy related heartburn.

Any cause for yours?

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 03:43

Hi Tee

Iv always been a really bad sleeper and had odd sleeping patterns but its worse now I'm PG,

Mine started earlier with heartburn too and just not being able to get comfy.

Im 9 weeks PG today so got ages left yet of this, I just hope it does get better after 12/14 weeks so I can get some rest bite from it until the more advanced stages.

trouble is with me the more i try to sleep the worse it gets coz I then get angry with myself and wake up even more Grrrr lol

How far are you along now?
xxXxx

I'm still awake too. Combination of SPD pain and worrying about stuff.

Tee2072 · 24/05/2009 03:46

Hi WW

I'm 35 weeks. So almost done!

I am at the stage where I just settle and get comfy and either the baby tramps on my bladder or the heartburn starts up. Although this is the worst its been.

I am beginning to wonder if you can OD on Gaviscon.

I am also a bad sleeper when not pregnant. Ain't it fun?

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 03:48

Tee,

Wonderful fun , this has been my worst PG for not sleeping and symptoms, with my other 2.. my DS who is now 20yrs and my DD who is 18yrs i dont remember it being this bad in the first few mths, mayb it was just so long ago now my brain has blocked it out lol or could just be my age lol

I spose my situation at the moment isn't helping in the slightest, but hey thats life!!

is this your first PG's both of you?

MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 03:53

Hi WW,

Just my two main hobbies really - worrying and insomnia lol.

Tee2072 · 24/05/2009 03:53

It is for me Wonderwitch. And probably my last, as I am 40 and it took nearly 2 years to conceive this one!

I am, however, greatly amused that all the gaviscon says about taking too much is it can make you bloated. Thanks, I already am bloated!!

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 03:55

MsBrandybuck ....Awww yep seems to be becoming very quickly mine too, why do we do this to ourselves, we must be totally nuts lol, must say tho sooo worth it in the end

OP posts:
MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 03:57

Not my 1st, have a DS aged 2.10 who was born when I was 40. Both times, thought it was the 'big M'

Tee2072 · 24/05/2009 03:59

Well, I am going to try this sleep thing again.

Good luck ladies!

MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 04:00

Night Tee. Good Luck!

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 04:00

Tee.... lmao at Gaviscon well a little bloatedness from that isn't going to make much of difference,

I think us PG women should automatically have shares in heartburn products, we would earn a fortune lol

Being 40 as I have been told on here ( im 40 too )is still very young, i was even called a spring chicken, which made me feel so much better, im sure you will have plenty of time for another if thats that you want.... get thro this one first tho then see how you feel lol

xx

Night Tee, hope you can get back to sleep, fingers, toes and everything crossed for you xxxxx

MsBrandybuck, I also thought it was the big M i was convinced of it as I had been having tests for very high hormone levels.

OP posts:
MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 04:08

It took us 3 yrs to get DS, and then 3 years for this one. DH has been joking (I think ) about us having a third when I'll be 46!

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 04:13

Thats something to look forward to he's obviously been thinking about it and many a true word spoken in jest lol

How far PG are you?

I cant wait for my 12 week scan, I am worrying alot more with this one, had a scan at 6 weeks as they thought `i was having ectopic, massive back an belly pain, thankfully all was ok but she did say I was over 7 weeks by the size, so will find out in 3 weeks hopefully how far i actually am.

OP posts:
MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 04:22

Got my '20 week' anomaly scan on Thurs due to loads of hospital cock-ups, I'll be 23 weeks by then - one of the things I'm worrying about. I had an ectopic 6 years ago, so know how horrible that is. My 12 week scan this time was great, the first one I've enjoyed

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 04:33

I think we all probably worry at every stage and everything we go for, think its natural, and some of us worry more than others tho.

I was so scared, dont think i have ever been so scared b4, I didnt really see the scan coz as soon as she said theres your babies heartbeat all is fine, i burst into tears and coulnt stop.

Must have been horrendous for you to go thro that, poor you, really feel for you xx

I cant be sure on my dates as up until Jan I had the merina coil, I had had them constantly since 2004, had that removed as the doc wanted to do hormone tests coz I had a few symptoms and hey presto sometime after that I conceived, was a slight shock to say the least, but we are over the moon, just a bit of bad timing as DP' family business had just collapsed and he will have to go bankrupt, but we will get through it.. eventually

What hospital are you with, at the moment im at Milton Keynes and after my visit at 6 weeks I am NOT impressed at all, I have a good mind to actually complain when I go to see midwife next wed for first visit, its a long story but basically they didnt seem to have a clue what they were doing, I did post the whole experience on here on the thread i started asking ppl's views on MK hosp.

OP posts:
MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 04:46

I'm supposed to be giving birth at Taunton but now having doubts. Where I live it is more usual to go to Bristol but I've refused as they misdiagnosed my ep. I had my DS at the Royal Gwent Newport, we moved back over here when DH was made redundant. Wish we hadn't moved tbh. My labour with DS was only 90 mins and it could take an hour to get to Taunton or Bristol.

MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 04:52

I will probably try to sleep again now, but will look out for you on the pregnancy threads ... oh and I have to say there are far worse tyhings than bankruptcy

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 04:53

Oh dear, so you could be even quicker this time then.

have you considered a home birth, thats what I hope to have as I was very quick with my other 2, my son was 2 and a half hrs and my daughter was 8 mins and TBH I really dont trust any hosp anymore, think mostly they all as bad as each other these days. or mayb you have a birthing centre near you, there isn't one near us Unfortunately

OP posts:
MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 05:08

Still here lol. The local hospital is only 10 mins away but is only a MW unit and they won't have me there as I'm classed as high risk (age and BMI). My midwife has said that if I want a homebirth they would have to attend but, it would be "against medical advice". I would go for it but I'm worried about being so far from the nearest hospital that could do anything if there was a problem. I've told DH I want to move back to Wales. Neither of us are sure if its just my hormones talking at the moment.

MsBrandybuck · 24/05/2009 05:13

Just read your thread about MK, looks like you have a similar lack of choice to me .

Wonderwitch · 24/05/2009 05:15

Wow what a situation to be in, its so frustrating isn't it when you cant get the care you want, just because of your age makes me angry

I have heard though that MW's and docs will try everything to put you off having a home birth and I have heard of some women being told there are no midwives available etc and they have had to fight really hard to have a home birth, but managed it in the end, successfully I might add.

Found out all this as I really researched it when I found out I was PG as its really what I want.

Think you have yo go with your gut instinct and what you really feel you want and are more comfortable with.

Mind you I will find out on Wed what they say to me when I say thats what I want, probably the same.. im too old!!! lol
and i will just say well i am very young at heart and you wont change my mind its what I want [stick out tongue emoticon] lol
