Should I go and get check out?

Hi,

Need some advice, am about 6 weeks pregnant. Have had for last couple of days mucus like discharge and today when i have been to loo when wiping, have pinkish discharge. Also have what feel like period pain and back ache.

Rang NHS Direct, but they've got big waiting list so it could be some time before they call back.

This is my 2nd pg. I recall I had a scare at about 6 weeks with my 1st pg, but don't rememeber back ache.

Am worried I am miscarrying. My sil said it might be implantation bleed - but I thought that this occurs much earlier on.

Just need to talk to someone really, as trying not to stress.

could be implantation bleed or it could be a misscarriage. either way theres not alot anyone can do. sit tight and fingers crossed for you that its not a misscarriage. sorry x

That's exactly what I was told. However, I was one of the lucky ones (I had bleeding and cramping from 5 to 11 weeks)

If you go to the doctors then they should be able to refer you to the EPU for a scan.

I had bleeding (only pink like yours) from 6-12 weeks in my second pregnancy. I'd had it with my first as well, but as he had been stillborn at 24 weeks I was already very anxious about my 2nd pregnancy and the pinkish spotting really didn't help. However, all was fine and it just seems that it's something I do.

I would go and see your GP (rather than A and E who'll have you waiting about for ages and then just give you a date for a scan in a week's time). They can refer you to EPU just the same and check your cervix to see if it is still closed, and you won't be waiting as long.

Please try not to worry - I've heard 75% of the time it is something that doesn't result in a mc.

I didn't have any spotting, but I did have backache and period like cramps around 6 weeks. I am not 24 weeks and everything is going fine.

I would call you GP for your peace of mind, but it really could just be the final parts of implantation and the uterus settling down to make room for baby.

Hi ladies thanks for all your feedback - much appreciated.

NHS Direct put me through to oncall GP in my area and he put me through to Early Pregnancy Unit at local hospital who have booked me in for a scan on Monday. Each of the people I spoke to were really lovely and reassuring.

So now just got to sit tight until the scan on Monday. Am praying and hoping all is ok, and it is just implantation, and not the other thing which I can't bring myself to say or write at mo, because I so much don't want it to be that.

Will let you know how I get on.

It is a very worrying time as there aren't any definite signs of pregnancy at this stage so nothing to reassure you. I hope tomorrow comes quickly for you.

Bionicear, please be aware that at the scan you might not see what you expect to see at 6 weeks. Early scans are frequently inconclusive dates are often wrong. I had a scan at what I thought was 7/8 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I was devastated, but it turned out that I was actually only 5/6 weeks so it was too early for a heartbeat. I'm now 30 weeks pregnant.

In my first pregnancy I had very heavy bleeding and I turned out to be fine. The early scan was actually at 8 weeks and it turned out to be fine, we saw a heartbeat. So I found it fairly traumatic this time around not to see what I expected to see on the scan.

I'm telling you this because I spent an awful few weeks waiting for the next scan. I was advised to wait 2 weeks and then go for another scan. I scoured the internet looking for similar stories and I found that bleeding is fairly common in pregnancy. So is backache, so don't panic.

Hi llareggub,

A very timely response to my posting - this evening have had heavy bleeding. I have spent much of this evening thinking all hope is lost, but this has raised my hopes slightly that maybe there is a chance still.

Can't discribe how helpful it has been to be able to come onto mumnet and have others talk to me when I most need to talk. Will let you all know the outcome, whatever it is.

Hi Ladies,

Just to let you know outcome of the scan.

Have lost the baby . Emotionally I am all over the place, but kinda knew deep down that this was going to be the outcome.

DH has taken day off work and we're going to go out for lunch.

Hospital said that it will be a few days before I stop bleeding, so have contacted work to say I'm taking rest of week off, as emotionally I don't think I could cope with being there whilst this is happening.

Just want to say thank you for all your support over the last couple of days, and to those who are still pregnant really hope babies are super glued to you and make it to the end.

I'm so sorry, BionicEar. I was thinking about you earlier and hoped that you would have a good outcome.

I don't know if it helps, but I have been in your shoes before and have gone on to conceive 2 healthy babies very quickly. Take care of yourself, and give yourself time to heal emotionally.

I read your thread this morning and just wanted to add my support. I'm so sorry hun that this has happened. I went through exactly the same thing back on 1st August last year. I was also 6 weeks PG.

You need time to heal emotionally, more than physically, so do take all the time you need. DH will also need time but will no doubt try to be as strong as he can for you.

Everyone handles these things differently and for us, it was to start trying again as soon as I stopped bleeding and I was PG again 6 weeks later. So it can happen very quickly. But YOU have to be emotionally ready for it.

MN will be here to support you when you are hun and right up until that time.

I'm so sorry to hear this has happened, BionicEar. Give yourself and your partner time to grieve, and use what support you can to help you through this traumatic time.

I went through a miscarriage in sumnmer 2007. I am now 27 weeks pregnant. It helped me and my partner to hear it happened to many people who then went on to have healthy pregnancies and babies.

Take good care of yourself. xx

So sorry to hear about what you're going through. I've had 2 early mcs too - one at about 8 weeks and one at about 5 weeks. I'm now about 6 weeks pregnant.

Take care of yourself, take as much time as you need off work.
