I had to have the glucose test and I think they do the blood test before to check your glucose levels why your fasting, then one after to check what happens when you have a sugary drink, how your body reacts to the sugar. Could be completely wrong but think thats what I was told at the time.

I had a mini GTT in the UK recently, & had the drink & bloods after - but obviously not as full on a test as the full GTT. No fasting involved either

Am having one in London in 2 weeks - just need to drink Lucozade and then take blood test an hour later. No fasting either.

I dont think the lucozade test is the same. I had both tests the Lucozade one determines whether you need the GTT.

It sounds like a Mini Gtt you should fast for an hour then drink lucozade then fast again for an hour and have blood taken.

Even with a mini Gtt you should do the fasting for an hour before and after otherwise the results can be wrong.
