Maternity bras for ladies with big Knorks?

My pre pregnancy size was 32G, looked in mothercare but the bigest they do is a G cup and I'm alreay growing out of them.

Bravisomo do some lovely ones but they are so expensive!

Any ideas?

With dd I wore the horrid granny bras and I wish I hadn't. You need good support, regardless of whether it is marketed as a maternity bra (there will be many who disagree with me I am sure) I wore normal underwire when I was pg with ds and now wear underwired nursing bras. I am a G cup too and frankly all of the stuff I looked at when I was pg just wasn't up to the job

I was a GG before pregnancy and Bravissimo is the only place I've found that sells bras that actually work during pregnancy. They also go up to a L cup.

NO NO NO - stay away from mothercare, M&S and Blooming marvellous! They do not have the staff who can correctly measure for big norks (I'm a 36J) I went to a little independant shop, John Lewis and Bravissimo and got verious bras - all perfect supportive fit. They may cost a bit more but it is worth it for the support and not having backache!

Another vote for Bravissimo. Love their stuff. Great returns policy.
Recently visited a shop just cos I was passing and had never been in one before. Not the time for new bras as still feeding DS...

I bought 2 from bravissimo a month or so ago and they are gorgous. Yes they are expensive but as I will prop be wearing them for 2 years its not that much in the long run. I have countered it by getting lots of bargains in matty clothes. You could always buy 1 then order more cheaply of the same style off the net?

Unfortunatly you have to spend money on big bras otherwise you are wasting on cheap ones. This is my 2nd pregnancy. The first time I went up to a 32gg but never lost size. Now am between 32hh and 32j. This is the only bra I have found to be any good at support while pregnant with out the wires digging in/sagging boobs etc!

This isn't to do with this thread particularly, but I was so surprised/annoyed to find that M&S don't do a nursing bra in a 32 back size...please, we are not freaks!!

Agree with anti Mothercare - they have invented the comedy anti-maternity bra which actually tips the boobs out of the cup if you so much as stand up too quickly - I often walk around with a Paris Hilonesque peekaboo nipple at Tesco/playgroup/in-laws because the 3 Mothercare bras I bought are SO badly designed! H&M do some really fab underwired maternity bras (which seems to be really frowned upon, but underwire is exactly what we need) but I don't know how big the sizing. Hot Milk have a fab website too... and my friend said La Redoute were good...

Yes, Rach1523, why don't M&S do a whole maternity thang? Surely they are perfectly placed for it? Dorothy Perkins etc do it very badly!

www.brastop.com sell last seasons bras from the same brands that bravissimo sell current season. Do you really care when untill sunday it's 2 for £30 ? Bravissimo fitted me in underwired for maternity, not breastfeeding.

hello...in the "due august 2009" thread we have been discussing maternity bras for bigger busted ladies and apparently underwires are fine as long as they fit perfectly, paticularly at the underarm area.
im pleased i stumbled across this thread because i was going to go to mothercare and get some bras (i live in lincolnshire...we are a bit short on decent shops for big boobed women!! in fact, the town i live in has no maternity clothes at all, so i have to travel 45 minutes to lincoln to find a semi decent clothes shop!!!)
i am pre pregnancy 36G and although im only 10+ weeks im feeling a bit of nipple peepage coming along nicely already!! i know they are only going to get bigger though so ill try to hold out a bit longer and flash my nipples at home, while saving the best fitting bras for public!!!

Memoo, Anita Maternity or Nursing Bras, they start at a 32 back size, go up to a H cup. They come with very soft underwires so that you get loads of support and definately no nipple peepage! Not cheap, £34/36 per bra, but if you get with a bra extender, this doesn;t just make the back bigger as you grow, but will also free up more room in the cup. If you are normally a 32, and in the first trimester, get a 34 but put it on the tightest setting. I've got a £5 off code for here which is N5 when you checkout. And they come and black or white!

Another vote for Bravissimo here, don't touch M&S, Mothercare or anywhere like that... and Bravissimo let me keep my underwires during pregnancy (which I have to say made a huge difference to me) but it's no problem just so long as they really really fit properly. I know these bras cost more but not too mcuh more and you will really get the use out of them, and a well fitting supportive bra is a lot cheaper than a breast lift later on !

havent read thro your replies so someone else may have already recommended - i am 42 F at moment (31 weeks) and someone on this site recommended me to www.nursingbra.co.uk as it goes up to L cup. I ordered 2 off this site and they are fantastic (about £20 each - Anita 5062 Black Nursing Bra and Bravado bra) - not only really comfortable but also look fine - unlike M&S and John lewis which were really frumpy. ive also ceated a bit by buying nursing bras - using them as maternity now but may be able to fit in at 40 weeks too. You might want to consider a night bra - i've been told to, to try and minimise stretch marks. NCT website has a few good night bras.

Do Natura go up to your size? I'm currently a 34 E and still heading upwards and outwards, and have found them to be SOOOO comfy! I know they're not officially maternity bras, but they're not underwired and give you fantastic support - 'specially the minimiser one.

You really shouldn't scrimp on bras if you have big knockers! Think about the £3000 price tag to have them sorted by a surgeon afterwards! I think £25 per bra is a small price to pay in Bravissimo, I won't shop anywhere else. They know how to fit you and have honest opinions about all the bras they sell. Unlike M&S etc. I am 7 months pregnant and needed new bras last week and even if I only wear them until I give birth I think it is worth every penny. The lady who fitted me in Bravissimo actually said she would not recommend the nursing bras they sell for every day use as they don't have enough support in our sizes(fine for wearing at night), she recommended Royce who have a website with a big list of stockists.

I got the impression Bravissimo don't stock Royce as they're not that supportive either, I know the woman who fitted me in John Lewis wouldn't sell me one as in her words it wasn't actually doing anything, even though it fit, if you get the drift! I go really big when I had my son and found that the NCT comfort bra was the best, goes up to K or L. They sell them on the NCT website

You don't need special maternity bras. Any well fitting bra is fine - just make sure that wires aren't too tight.

Agree with you re not needing maternity ones, I regret using soft cup ones last time as I think they've allowed gravity to do its work! I've stuck with underwires that fit well this time and think it's much better for my back, and have had no problems, the nct one I mentioned is a nursing one.
