Foods to beat indigestion?

I shouldn't complain really, it's a nice change from feeling sick all the time for months, and I suspect it's keeping me from pigging out on junk food, or indeed anything tasty....

I wondered what people recommend to beat it though, am only coming up to 16 weeks and already am getting quite bad indigestion from lunchtime until the end of the day. Someone suggested milk? Also can you take Rennies and that sort of thing?

Thanks for your tips!

I took Gaviscon through pregnancy which really helped. I found milk made my heartburn and indigestion worse - I'm not usually lactose intolerant but I was while I was pg. It helps some people though, if they're not sensitive to it. I found bland food was the way to go - porridge, mashed potato... I couldn't have citrus fruit as they gave me heartburn. Hope that helps. Nice not to feel nauseous though, hey?

I used to eat ice cream to get rid of indigestion. Worked great for me, but might be a bit cold for all that now!

Ooh love ice-cream, will get some in... Assuming chocolate is the most effective ;)

I had the worst heartburn when pregnant - everything gave me indigestion.
I ate a ton of Rennies and found the chewy minty ones to be best. When it was fairly mild, sucking a mint would also help (used to worry about the amount of Rennies I was ingesting!)
Bland food is definitely the way to go as is eating little and often. If I let myself get too hungry, it made it lots worse. Also eating slowly and trying to walk a little after meals.

Eating small portions often helped me when suffering from indigestion (rather than one big blow out at meal times).

Milk and ice cream worked for me. Remegel and/or Gaviscon if it got really unbearable (toward the end of pg)

As everyone else has said, small bland meals, little and often. I swear my dd was almost entirely made up of Weetabix and Strawberry milkshake

Hello

I've had bad heartburn/ reflux since about 25wks. Conversely I've found milk and milky things like icecream make it worse! Stange how we are all different! Cereal is bad thing, as is icecream, pastry, mash potato and loads of things i thought would be ok.

Things that help IME are non saucey meals so I avoid stews unless with lots of rice to soak it up etc.

I actually take zantac now despite it being un approved. Helps enormously if I take it before eating.

Good luck.
