Help! 30 weeks and overnight I can hardly walk with hip pain, what to do and might it improve?

had a few niggles in last pregnancy but nothing major. 4 days ago I suddenly developed really really painful hip/sacroiliac pain on one side. I can walk but it's very painful. I'm in a panic as have a 2 year old son, long commute to work 3 days a week and 10 weeks of the pregnancy to go!

I've looked on the net and am trying to follow all the advice about keeping legs together etc, but what else can I do and will it get better or can I just expect more deterioration before the birth? I don't know how I can do the commute to work next week!

Get yourself to an osteopath asap! Magical HTH

I would try to get reffered to a physio, by your midwife. I had bad sciatic pain and pelvic pain with dd2 (partly caused by carrying around dd1). The physio said my pelvis was out of whack (my words, not hers!). I had a big ugly maternity belt that seemed to help. I found a warm wheat bag helped a bit too.

Good luck

thanks all,

saw physio today. She said my hip was very strained but nothing was out of place and that I should rest for a week except Pilates and avoid doing stuff round the house etc. Hard with a 2 year old!
