Inadequate bump at 35 weeks

Just returned from routine ante-natal check and being sent for a scan as I'm only measuring 31 cms instead of the 35+ expected for my dates (which are accurate). Need I be alarmed?

When I was expecting DS1, I only looked about 5 months pregnant at full term. (he was 6lb 13oz's)

With DS2 I only looked 7 months at full term +1 wk. (he was 7lb 13oz's)

We in our family only ever have small babies, we were all under 7lb, and my mother never looked pregnant with any of us.

My niece was just told that at 36 weeks she only measured 29 wks, so they had her in and induced her my great nephew was 5lb 7oz's and 4 weeks early, if they had let her go on for another few weeks he would have been bigger, now he is in a incubator in a drip still in hospital 3 weeks later.

I have a pic of my sister at nine months and she looks as if she's just had a large meal

I had no bump (well I could see it, but strangers would not notice it) until 6 months, and even then I could just have had a pot belly. People on the tube clearly thought so (no offers of a seat for me)!! LOL. Then at 36 weeks I ballooned. Not a stretch mark was to be seen before then and you should see the spaghetti junction I have now. I became ENORMOUS and so when induced at 2 weeks late and the midwife felt my tummy adn said I was having a small one, I was gobsmacked as I was expecting a 9lb+ boy. As it happened 7lb11 girl appeared 3 days later. I had alot of water and she was long and high in my pelvis.

Just goes to show all sorts can happen.

Hello, I had hardly any bump at all through out my whole pregnancy, very annoying for when i wanted a seat on the bus, sympathy etc!!
Just to reassure though, I ended up giving birth to a completely healthy, gorgoeus 6lb 5oz girl, so don't panic!!

My bump was very small too. Baby was born at term +12 weighing 8lb 5oz. I am average height and small build

Good luck tomorrow! You've had heaps of reassurance but I thought I'd add mine which is along the same lines:
I went for my 36 wk check with dd (child 2)and they sent me for a scan because I was small - why, I asked - because if it's not developing properly we'll have to get it out now. DH was stormbound (literally) in Stornoway and ds was in nursery for another hour and a half. Anyway, had all the waiting etc and ended up being told it would be mid-7lbs and everything fine. Normally they seem to be miles out with their predictions but this one was spot on and she arrived 2 days late, 7lbs 4oz. And easy peasy.

Let us know how you go tomorrow!!!
