I had an UNPLANNED unassisted delivery it was V V V Scary!! im currently 32 weeks pg with DC3 and i am bloody petrified it will happen again.

Why on earth would you want to plan an unassisted delivery??

no, i haven't but i know a couple of people on another forum who have.
and a midwife there whose friend had one and she said it was fantastic and that she was ever so slightly jealous! lol

persoanlly I think i'd be too scared. assisted homebirth is as far as I am going, but good luck if you decide to go for it

Did you find anyone? I am 16wks and don't have a clue what to do re birth plan. I'd like to be outside, private!, weather permitting and no one wants to agree to help - maybe i should go it alone?

ChasingSquirrels · 05/01/2009 21:13

nope, just an unplanned one. though tbh i did have it in my head that it might turn out unassisted

Cazzy, I would never tell anyone what to do with their personal choices, and I don't want to sound like I'm just trying to scare you, however...

I have a friend of a friend who had a planned unassisted delivery, just with her partner. They were intelligent educated people who prepared as much as they could, read up lots etc, but sadly I have to report that it went very badly for them. They didn't realise that things were going wrong early enough, and although they did eventually transfer to hospital, their daughter now has permanent brain damage from lack of oxygen at the birth.

I would urge you to consider your plans very carefully. There are very few cultures in the world where birth happens without some kind of knowledgeable person to help.
