Hiya

Just looking for advice - I am currently experiencing pain in my lower left abdomen and it is worse when I stand up from a period of sitting at my desk. It also hurts when I toss and turn at night, causing me to lose sleep (last night only slept for 1 hour)
Is this normal ligament stretching or could it be something worse

any help appreciated x

Hi there. How long have you been having it? Have you any other symptoms? If I were you I would call your midwife or local antenatal clinic or NHS Direct - it's no good worrying about it if it's stressing you, or you're in pain. I had a pain last week that was like a stitch that lasted about a day, I think, and when I rang a midwife she said it sounded like ligament stretching. (This was at 16 weeks.)

I wouldn't like to say that's what it is, but it could well be, I'm sure - but best to get some professional advice I reckon so you can be reassured. I've also had a few stomach upsets which have caused quite a lot of pain - but usually had constipation or other symptoms too.

Let us know how you are. xxx

hi flynn, i have had continuous pain throughout my pregnancy im now 28+ weeks around 8 weeks i had pain in my lower left abdomen, i ended up panicking and going to A+E which i never regreted as they thought my pregnancy may have been ectopic. turns out all i had was settling in pains but i still wasnt convinced i had pain again at about 16 weeks aparently i was 'constipated' still not convinced.. finally i went at 23 weeks and i have a hernia behind my belly button causing the pain that i was feeling i would definately mention it to your midwife you can never be too careful
hope this helped xxx

hiya

thank you for your replies! The pain is still there at times and at the moment I have heavily constipated (sorry if TMI) so not sure if that is what is causing the problem...think i'll call midwife tomorrow if it continues!

thanks again hope you both have a nice Christmas
