I have tested today being a day late. My boobs are not sore, and my back is aching. Feel a bit sick off and on, but think that is more to do with my anxiety. (really would like to be pg..)

Any one have any pearls of wisdom??

I had to squint to see the line and it only appeared after ages too (had been about to throw it away in disgust, we'd been trying 12 months+). Did 3 further tests over next 4 days and STILL couldn't say definately or not as lines remained very faint. Only when i bought a digital one and it said 'pregnant' did I start to believe.
My boobs only became sore when I was about 2 weeks late.
Even up to first scan, I still doubted we had summat in there .

Now have a smiley 9 week old!!!

My advice - buy a digital one.

Oh and mother nature very cruel as first few days of pg feels like you're about to get period any time...

Congrats!

June20009 -

WOW WOW WOW...
Congratulations to you too!!!! Funny - Your nickname includes one of my daughter's rl middle names!

I think you are going to just love having the scan - Drink lots of water beforehand, take lots of tissues (incase like me you blub!) and money to buy your own picture to show off to the World!!!!

After the first scan until she was born we called my dd Golum on account of her looking remarkably like him on her first scan!!! - I think you should also use the scan to choose an in the womb name for your little one too... it makes it all the more real...Then come back and tell us on mn - HEY - We should have a thread for you about womb names...could be funny, hey??!!!???

I had to look at the line I got under a very bright light to see it but it was certainly there. In fact I got a very faint line with both my pgs (one was even at about 3 weeks) and they turned out to be gorgeous little girls.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AuntyVi · 26/11/2008 12:56

Mine was so faint it was pretty much invisible, we had to hold it up against the light to see it but I was sure there was something there - & had done enough negative tests before that to know what they look like! Still took DH another 3 tests before he would believe it though. DS will be 1 very soon! Congratulations!

FunnyLittleFrog · 26/11/2008 13:17

My first test was too soon (just one day late) so no line at all. Second test three days later had faint blue line. She's 6 weeks old now.

The line shows there is HCG(?) hormone in your wee and you don't have that unless you are definitely preggo! The concentration levels of the hormone increase over the first few weeks of pregnancy meaning that the longer you leave it before you test the stronger the line.

Congrats!

Just to buck the trend, my faint dot is currently at school.

Congratulations.

walkinthewoods · 26/11/2008 15:05

yes I had a barely visible pink dot 2 days late. was about to throw the test away. did another one the next day, still barely visible (and so on and so on) probably the fact that we were in a heatwave and I was drinking gallons.
had another one at gp's, still barely visible, she wouldn't commit. had to steal myself and hold off on testing and got a BFP about a week after due.
DD is now 4

bettybeetroot · 26/11/2008 15:39

i used a digital test while ttc for ds = it said not pregnant but i tried a cheaper one that came up with a faint line so i knew then that i was pregnant! so much for the digital ones being more accurate. i did take the stick bit out of the digital one and there was a faint line on the stick that go's inside - i did wonder at the time if this line only comes up when you are pregnant. i should have complained and got my money back!

needamiracle · 26/11/2008 17:35

More and more lovely positive stories.... Did another test this morning and there is more of a line, although still faint... No period as yet!! Phoned the Drs and made an appt to see him next week. Will ask for a blood test, even though I am not sure he will agree to do it. My DH and I want an early scan at 6 weeks as this is what happens when the IVF treatment works. Not sure how I go about that. Am sure I will have to go privately which is fine by us.... Am still feeling sick most of the time and my sense of smell has gone through the roof! I really hope that this is true....

It sounds like it to me. I had a faint line and then, after three more tests (I spent a fortune on them...!) I had cramps and was convinced my period was coming. But it didn't, and faint line aka DD is now 3.9 and asleep in bed! DS was also a faint line but by then I knew it was a definite.
Wonderful news...fingers crossed etc. It seems that even faint lines are all definite pregnancies

mersmam · 26/11/2008 20:19

needamiracle - you are definitely pregnant!! The line will be stronger if you do the test in a week (I did at least eight with my first pregnancy!) With my second pregnancy I had a test done at the drs at about 7 weeks which gave a negative result - I was devastated and v. confused but apparently the tests used by drs are much less sensitive than the ones you buy from the chemist (this is a urine test I'm talking about - a blood test will probably be more accurate but is really unecessary if you have a line on the test you've already done). Try not to worry (hard I know), but you need to preactise being calm NOW... once you believe you're really pregnant you will start to worry about whether the next scan will be OK, then the next scan, then you'll worry about whether the baby is moving enough, then about the birth, then SIDS... going on until you're up through the night worrying about where your teenager is You are experiencing your first lesson in motherhood - how to REALLY worry!!

Wilkiepedia · 26/11/2008 20:19

My very faint lines are now 2 years old and 12 weeks in ma belly

Congrats!

mersmam · 26/11/2008 20:25

needamiracle - I really wouldn't go for having a private scan - you will not be able to see much at six weeks and it will probably only make you worry more! Wait for the brilliant 12 week scan - I really understand how you are feeling but every woman who is pregant (particularly for the first time) feels that sense on unbelief. Just try to enjoy every stage and every second!!

needamiracle · 26/11/2008 20:29

This isn't my first pregnancy. My DS was born after 2 attempts of IVF so this is another reason why I am so unsure and trying not to get too excited.... We had an early scan at 7 weeks with him and it was amazing to see this little bean and hear a heart beat. It is just reassuring, I think, to do this....

My faint (tbh almost invisible to the naked eye) line is due in May. Good luck!

Wispabarsareback · 26/11/2008 20:55

Congratulations! I've heard that you can feel a bit like your period is coming at around the time of implantation - and I definitely felt like that with DD2 - cramps, backache, etc. I was sure I couldn't be pregnant.

A line is a line, like everyone says. My GP reassured me of that the first time I was pregnant, when I couldn't quite believe that the faint line was really a line.

With DD2 I had an early scan to check dates - I turned out to be 8 weeks along, and it was fantastic to see her even at that early stage, and to see her heart beating.

Hope all goes well for you.

micra · 26/11/2008 23:54

Yes, my faint line was a positive too - but I worried as DD1 was an unmistakeable thick dark line. As it happened, I had spots of bleeding and miscarried soon after. Had I not done the test so early, I'd never have even known I was pregnant and just thought my period was late (which it never is). I do wonder whether a faint line means less hormones or whatever to detect so potentially more at risk than a think line? Anyway, got PG 2 mths later (thick blue line!)so all's well that ends well

stiggywiggywoo · 28/11/2008 14:42

I got such a faint line on one of the cheapy (and out of date) tests they used to give me at the fertiliy clinic ( we had been trying for 8 years)that my husband refused to believe it and tried to dip another one in water to prove it was just a "tide mark". The next day I did a First Response one ( with a jar of wee in the car outsde Boots) and got a big fat line. DS is now 15 weeks old.

Congratulations on your faint line.Hope all goes well for you.
