Confusion and Despair after bleeding and scan! HELP X

Hello ladies

I am new to this site and desperate for answers that I cannot find.

I am 8 weeks pregnant (as I believed), my midwife gave my due date of 3rd July, this was worked out on a generic 28 day cycle however my cycle can be anything from 33-37 days! So I thought maybe it was a bit inaccurate. Anyway 2 days ago I started to bleed very off/on and quite light, and brown colour. I went to the hospital yesterday for an ultrasound, they picked up a sac and pole, no heartbeat though but only measured the equivalent of between 5/6 weeks!! So they sent me home and have to wait for ANOTHER week and also monitor bleeding. Next Friday they will do another scan to see if baby died and stopped growing a week or so back or whether baby grown and my dates are wrong! I am so very very upset. Don't know what to think. Part of me says stay confident, it is poss my dates are wrong and baby small etc, but cmmon sense says come on, you are bleeding and can't be 2 weeks wrong with dates...or can I??? HELP! I will never survive this week. Any advice would be great, I am driving myself potty. Has anyone had any experieneces similar? Many thanks

I really feel for you, i had a similar experience. My cycle can be anything from 30-40 days when i went for my first scan according to the mw i should have been 11+3, when she was scanning she could not find anything in the uterus and was there for ages.
So the next day we were refered to the epu for a more detailed scan machine (just waiting overnight was horrendus ) the next day the sonographer found the baby and the heartbeat right away! turns out i was 8+3 weeks and not 11+ they told me it was because of my long cycle and said i must have concieved mid to late july when my lmp was 22nd of june!

It really does make a difference if you have a longer cycle to try to hang in there sac and pole sounds around right for 5 weeks so another week should make a difference.

Bleeding can be anything i had a bleed a 6 weeks, im now 19 weeks and going strong, also in my dds pg i bled right through my pg around the time of my period, so try not to worry unless it gets heavy and you are in pain.
I have also suffered 2 mc i had a lot of bright red bleeding with clots and huge ammounts of pain. I hope everything goes ok for you. x

Just wanted to add that i dont think the paranoia goes till the baby is in your arms!
@ 19 weeks i have my 20 week scan next week and i'm ill that something will be wrong! I have no valid reason to feel this way except that everything is going so well i cant quite believe it!

I had bleeding at 5 weeks and then at 6 weeks, but a very healthy 2 year old now, so it can be ok. I lost a huge amount of weight while pregnant because I was too scared day and night to eat. Accupuncture helped quite a lot. Hope it goes well for you.

Please try not to panic. Of course the worst is possible, but it is just as likely (if not more so given that your bleeding was brown and only light) that your dates are wrong.

My cycles are usually about 34 days so with DD1 I thought my dates might be sdjusted a bit but in the end I was pushed back by 13 days (which turned out to be pretty accurate as she was born within 2 days of her new due date). If you have a short luteal phase you might only have ovulated around day 26 or 27 which would mean a big change to your dates. You also have to remember that at this stage dating is really not very accurate.

I bled with DD2 at around 8 / 9 weeks and she was fine.

Good luck.

I also have a long cycle and my dates have always been put back by a week or two.

I had quite a bit of bleeding at 4-6 weeks. He is now 3.5 and has 2 little sisters.

Hope everything is ok for you. I know that this week will be hell for you- waiting and not knowing. Don't despair yet, it could go either way.
