I have a book that says 0-3 lbs. Want to chuck it on fire.

I am 9weeks and put on 4 pounds. Trying to eat moderately, only when I am hungry which happens a lot! But small meals or just snacks. No nausea though, had some slightly and only when I was very very hungry, but then ate food and was okay. I m also feraking out about my weight gain: I am 5'6" and 11st (was 9 st bfore but in the last 2 years added on 2 st due to unknown reason!!) so with all this pregnancy thing I am so frightened I will baloon... doing every day walking 40-45 min a day and occasional swimming but feeling so tired!!

None. Lost weight doing Slimming World in last pregnancy, and am 29 weeks in to this one and haven't gained anything. Fat to start with though.

ranirani · 19/07/2008 15:42

hi cantsleepwontsleep, can you tell me more pls about Slimming world??? did you do it during the pregnancy or after? very interested!!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/07/2008 15:53

Before and during (is approved by Royal College of Midwives) ranirani. You get to eat loads which is why t appealed to me!

i lost over a stone in the first trimester as I went off food but I have about another seven stones I could do with getting rid of so I was quite pleased. Weight gain/loss is so individual- don't get too caught up with it.

slinkiemalinki · 21/07/2008 13:17

About 5-6lbs. Started off at 121 lbs.

dinkystinky · 21/07/2008 14:21

Last pregnancy put on around 5-6lbs in first trimester - though gained around 3 stone in total by the time very overdue DS came out.

This time round, at 9 weeks or so, have already put on around 5lbs.... trying to keep up exercise regime (though have cut out really high impact stuff as was killing my pelvic floor) and not eat too many extra calories but still piling on the pounds... ho hum.

MrsMattie · 21/07/2008 14:24

Nothing either time. But last time I'd put on 4 stone by the end of the 9 months! I'm 21 weeks pregnant at the moment and have put on 7 lbs, but I've got a feeling in my bvones I'm goping to be enormous again by the end of this!

I don't think what you put on in first trimester is an indictaor of things to come either way, really. Don't worry"

reban · 21/07/2008 14:35

I generally dont put on weight for the first 18-20 weeks but by the end ive gained about 2 1/2 stone. Happening again this time im 18 weeks with dc4 and have not gained any weight but could easily pass for 6 months gone already - stomach muscles definately non-existent!

woose · 21/07/2008 14:53

Gained 7 pounds in first trimester, then 3 1/2 stone overall with DS. Was massive whale of a woman. However, I only weighed 8 stone to begin with and am 5 ft 5. Couldn't stop eating junk like crisps (V bad I know). This time I promised myself I would put on less as it was tough shifting it before, although I did. However, I am 30 weeks and have put on two stone already, and still eating junk (VV bad)

chandellina · 21/07/2008 18:26

I gained about 15 pounds in the first trimester - i was very hungry! i gained about another 5 pounds up until 22 weeks, and then absolutely no weight gain from then until about 32 weeks. I've since gained maybe another 5 pounds, so about 25 in all. (i'm now 38 weeks.)
it was annoying to put so much on at the start, and i was worried i was going to be massive, but the weight seemed to migrate to the bump and now i'd say i'm basically all bump. (and it's not huge at all)
everyone is different so try not to stress.

kookiegoddess · 21/07/2008 19:12

lost weight due to morning sickness and then just as MS went away, I got gastroenteritis, so lost a bit more. Am now gaining steadily, have put on about 11 or 12 pounds so far and I have 11 weeks to go. Am very hungry now so expect to put on a bit more quickly.

funbags · 21/07/2008 23:49

lorks lots of different answers so show's me there is no right or wrong to this business. I'm asking because I piled on nearly 5 stone with DD1, 3.5 of which was left after delivery and took 18 months to shift. So dont want all that agro again.

Thus far (13 weeks) have put on half a stone. last time put on a stone, but I'm half a stone heavier to begin with with this one, so at the same point again ifswim. Def not eating as much (nausea last time left me just wanting carbs and nothing else) as before and have started to try and keep the sugar intake down.

DD was 9lbs 9oz and had a lot of trouble getting her out - I'm convinced that my sugar cravings and weight gain are what made her so massive as i was 5'3 size 8-10, so grew one too big for my own pelvis. At the time everyone said how much you put on doesn't affect the size of the baby but I have since seen things that suggest that excessive weight gain does, hence trying to keep it in sensible limits.

First pregnancy I put on a stone (14lbs) in the first trimester and 5 stone overall . But I lost over 3 stone in labour. By the time the baby was 7 months BFing ensured I had not only lost all excess weight but was a stone lighter than before conceiving and a size 10 for the first time in my adult life .

This pregnancy i put on about 4lbs in the firt trimester. I am now 20 weeks and have put on 12lbs overall.

laweaselmys · 25/07/2008 20:43

I've put on 7lbs so far at 6 weeks! But I was small for my height (5'4") to start with but I think most of it has gone to my boobs which are already alien and massive?? Much more shocking than the weight and bit of a belly I'm getting (think it's just fat not baby) since they were only an A cup and are now bordering C.

chandellina · 27/07/2008 20:55

funbags - you probably are aware but i'd ask to be tested for gestational diabetes this time around - or follow the GD diet anyway to keep things under control.

aaaarrrgggghhh · 28/07/2008 22:55
